YT Addict | Help!!! My two girls are puppy pad potty trained, and they usually don't have many accidents except for every now and then. My only problem is I can never keep them from peeing on my rugs! They don't poop on them but they pee on them. What is the best way to try and keep them from peeing on my rugs? Its driving me and my husband crazy, and I am tired of washing rugs every two days!!

| Are these throw rugs you're talking about. Reason I ask is some years pack my dogs would do the same thing, pee on the rug I had in front of the kitchen sink. I thought they were getting confused with their pee paper and the rug, what the heck, something laying on the floor, lets pee on it, they also did not poop on it. I removed the rug. Those girls are now passed. I agree with what Belamia has suggested. When my girls were doing this I ordered on line ZERO ODOR.web site Zero Odor Pet | Zero Odor I would spray the rug, let it set for several hours then wash the rug. They would pee in diff. places on the rug so I just gave up and removed the rug. Good luck it can be frustrating.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | And herein (imo) often lies the rub for indoor potty training. Most indoor pad trained dogs cannot tell the difference btwn a pad and a rug, and I don't blame them. We can't have rugs in our house bc of the dogs...so, dogs come first, rugs second . Lol.

| This is just a suggestion that may or may not interest you. What if you got a special box for them to potty on? I use a container called UGODOG for my dog. It is a large container where the pee will collect and on top of the container are two grids with small square holes where the pee goes down into the container and the poo stays on the top for easy removable. You can use newspapers or whatever inside the container if you choose. The name of the company is : www.ugodog.com if you might be interested in checking them out. It may be the solution you are looking for to keep them confined to one place to go potty and not your rugs.

| I read an article just last week that if you use white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray where you dont want your furbaby to go it would do the trick. I made a bottle of half vinegar and half water and did as it said and I really havent seen a difference. So I guess either remove rugs , outdoor train or keep washing every 2 days like I do! LOL |

| I would remove the rugs for a time like someone else suggested! Often Dogs get confused on rugs and potty pads, I sometimes thought Mitsi assumed My rugs were just a more luxurious pad for her use haha. Shes fully house trained now and Weve taught Her to bark when She has to use the bathroom. (Best Idea We ever had). You can also buy a spray at the pet store that makes the rug or area smell like something they do not like. But Ive heard mixed reviews on that. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Peeing on carpet Abby my older Yorkie, pees very often, she was peeing on the carpet so I put down 2 pee pads in the spot she was peeing on the carpet, and 2 pee pads in the kitchen buy the door, where she will wait to go out, in case I don't catch her in time, it has really worked well. But for some reason if I put a towel on the floor, both Chloe & Abby will pee on it. Very funny little doggies. I bought some Pet Spray to put on the carpet to get rid of odor, did not work so well, I got rid of that carpet, got a new one, Abby had an accident and I used Frabreeze air freshener, cause I didn't have anything else at the time, OMG it worked great no after odor at all. Just washed, sprayed, and used paper towel to dry, did a few times to spot, no odor. Both Chloe & Abby are pad trained and also go outside, some times it is too cold in the winter to go out. |
