Hi - I'm new & in Iowa Hi, I just joined the site, actually this is the first forum I have ever joined. Being one busy lady with 2 Yorkies and 2 Siameses cats and a child with too many diversions has kept me from doing so in the past. But after checking out this site I can tell it is GREAT!! I have 2 Yorkies - they were given to me by one of my daughter's dance teachers almost 2 yrs ago. She named them, and since we see her about 5 times a week (and her parents take care of the dogs for free when we travel) I couldn't very well change their names. They are Bubba (turned 3 this past Nov. 2) and Roxie (turned 3 this past Dec. 2) (my bday is Oct. 2 - so we're all in sync.) We laugh about their names sometimes - someone once said they said like an old couple living in a trailer court. Their previous owner did a great job buying the dogs from champion bloodlines and then training them well. They are fantastic little dogs with their own personalities. Bubba is truly a Bubba - he's a coach potato and loves to be cuddled. He does make me smile. Roxie on the other hand is a squirrel hunter and loves to be outside even on chilly winter days. I'm always having to beg her to come inside. She likes to bark at the boxer on on side of us and the German Shorthair Pointer on the other side. Who else is from Iowa? I'm in Des Moines. Does anyone have a Yorkie who smiles? Roxie smiles - especially when she first sees me in the morning. She will also smile on command - well if she feels like it. Sometimes she smiles so much she starts sneezing repeatedly. Someone once told me about another Yorkie that smiled, so I don't know if that is some unique Yorkie ability. Bubba on the other hand - licks, not necessarily people - but the couch, car seat, fabric coverings. Anyone have this same problem? I've heard before this might be some type of compulsive disorder. I'm still learning about Yorkies, so I appreciate this site. I used to breed Bichon Frises in my home. I had one pair - I believe the first pair in Des Moines and we had huge litters with our little dogs. We went several years without dogs, after their deaths. I also used to breed my Siamese - but had a nightmare occur with a buyer who came to my house to try to set me up - long story. Roxie and Bubba were fixed already when I got them. Maybe it would be fun (work) to breed Yorkies some time. I can't believe all the Yorkie/Chons I see out on the Web - I don't believe in missing breeds - even though I love both of these breeds. Now you know why I'm yorkiesmiles

Yes, welcome to YT...I am so glad you found us....Bubba and Roxie sound so cute and like quite the pair....can't wait to see pics. If you are interested in learning about possibly breeding yorkies as you mentioned this is a great site to start your research. I have 3 and my college aged daughter has one so I have four in the family but I don't breed. Again, welcome!

Welcome. I have (2) 6 year old yorkies-Zoe and Bailey. Zoe likes to sit in the window and watch for squirrels and then wants to go outside and climb the tree. It is so funny to watch her. Bailey likes to lick everything, also. I don't know what it means but he licks the couch, bed, carpet etc. I live in Missouri. I tried to breed mine, had 2 liters and lost them all. They are both fixed now. I got him fixed first so they would I wouldn't have to keep them apart everytime Zoe came in heat. He had a litter of pups with another yorkie. Then Zoe got sick with pyrometra (?) and she had to have a hysterectomy. I should have gotten her fixed and let Bailey be a stud dog, but I didn't want to leave her overnight at the vets to be spayed. Look what I got. She was very sick and I had to leave her anyway.

| Hello and welcome to Yorkie Talk. Bubba and Roxie sound so wonderful!! My two Yorkies don't "smile" or lick a lot so I'm not much help there, but it sounds like you have very happy Yorkies. I hope you enjoy Yorkie Talk as much as the rest of us!!

Wow Thanks so much for all the welcoming notes!! Makes a girl feel like she belongs! I don't really know anyone else who has Yorkies - so I appreciate the welcome. Now I'm thinking I need to be better at reaching out and arranging playdates the few times someone says they have a Yorkie. I have beautiful Yorkie checks that I ordered from the Bradford company and frequently I have people comment on the checks or ask if I have Yorkies. Now I know where the Yorkie owners go!! YorkieTalk!! I just got a new digital camera and I haven't got it all figured out yet, but as soon as I do I'll get some pix up here to share with all of you. I love all the pix of all the cute Yorkies with everyone's notes!! Thanks for the welcome one more thing, can someone tell me how to do a signature? Totally new and clueless to forums
