| Cody’s newest groomer So I bring hairy bear in and tell the gal give him puppy cut, also tell her I am trying to grow a top knot. She asks is this a girl or a boy, I say a boy, she says and you want him to have a top knot. I say yeah, if they don’t peek they won’t know, besides boys can have top knots too. So my question is: What would you think about her comment of boys and top knots. BTW, she did a nice styling on his face, his body is a short puppy clip. I should have taken a picture right then and there, by time we got home (7 minute drive) his top knot bow was gone and on the floor of the car lol.

YT 1000 Club Member | Teek has a top knot and I love it. I think a lot of male Yorkies get top knots. I think she was being silly, but if she did a good job then I would keep using her.

| Some people are just more... conservative (for lack of better word) than others perhaps. As long as she wasn't being rude/negative in any way, I wouldn't have given it a 2nd thought. |

| There is nothing wrong with a boy having a topknot (just don't use pink rubberbands ). As for the groomer, depending on how much you like her, how she is with your pups, etc, I would have a problem with someone who questioned what I told them to do.

| A male with a topknot is just not what shes used to I dont think she meant it as insulting. If it were my husband he may have said the same thing just because its not what he is used to

YT 1000 Club Member | Both my boys have topknots. Even when I shaved Rasta's body last year I left his topknot alone. Most of the yorkies I see in my area are in puppy cuts, so when people see mine in full coat it's a bit of a shock. The groomer's comment wouldn't have bothered me. Maybe most of the male yorkies she grooms don't have top knots or she was maybe just verifying what you wanted? Some people really are not as open minded, as Magnus said, on what they consider male attributes when it comes to dogs(people too). My husband says dudes don't wear bows lol. But Rasta and Medi continue to wear them. If she did a fantastic job and Cody likes her, I say keep her. If she questions you in a sarcastic/snide way get rid of her and find another groomer or speak with her about how she came across if you choose to take Cody back. | She might not like boys with top knots, but I think that is irrelevant as long as she did a good job. |

| Bobby has always had a knot top. It is so much a part of him now, I think he looks strange without one. |

| Thank you every one. She wasn't rude when she asked, it was more of a surprised comment. I just felt as a groomer she would know boys can have top knots, made me wonder if she groomed a lot of yorkies. If she would have asked in a rude way I would have walked out with Cody tucked under my arm lol. No razor burn (lucky her) and his face was styled really cute. All my passed babies were girls and I NEVER had them with a top knot, mostly because they were tom boys and the clip would be torn out in 3 minutes, if they didn't pull it out the others would pull it out lol they were crazy sweet, silly lil girls lol. Cody shakes himself out and the claw which I am using until all the hair is grown for a proper top knot gets disheveled, but it stays in, I have to redo it several times a day. Top knot is new to me, but so is Cody lol. I liked the groomer enough to use her again. Again, thank you all for your comments.

| Ain't that the truth, I had such an excellent one, her own business with a partner, but they ended the business, long story lol, she was wonderful with the dogs. 5 years I am looking for a groomer, when I find one they don't stay in business long, or the groomer is no longer working there lol.
