| Pulling Pups I haven't been on Yorkie talk for a long time. But I need a little help. My little ones pull on walks. You would think they were Huskies. I'm often asked if they are walking me or am I walking them. Well, obviously they walk me. I have tried different harnesses. But as you all know we can't use a reg collar on a Yorkie and I don't know what to do next. I try working with them one on one. Hold the leash short and reverse directions when they start pulling. They are a little better one on one they are least look at me but it doesn't last. I've tried using a walking stick in front of them and that doesn't help. I've raised larger dogs and never had this problem, but these little stinkers have taken over. I must be getting soft. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. | Have you tried a harness that has the leash clip on the chest? I discovered that I can turn Blazer's original harness around on him (so the leash clips on his chest instead of on his back) and low and behold, he can't pull!

| They can't pull in a harness that has the hook on the front because it turns them in a circle.

| I had a pup that use to pull when we would go on walks so I would just stop walking when he did. If he pulled I would stop if he walked normally we would continue. Eventually he learned that if he wanted to walk he couldn't pull. |

| easy walk harness He gets it between his legs then he can pull. I have also tried stopping when they pull. I am beginning to think I I need to walk them separately until they understand. What do you think. I'm going to go back to the easy walk with a short lead. You know when we walk on the treadmill he follows. But it doesn't translate once he is out side and sees squirrels. Gotta work. Thanks for all the advice I'm going to try them all again. There is a pack leader in me somewhere. Lol |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Are you sure you had it on correctly? Bc this kind of harness can't be pulled on, or it automatically just turns them around the other way. If he's still pulling, then it probably is on wrong. You could try a gentle leader, those work, but most dogs don't like them. You could also buy a bark genie and use it as correction while walking. It does not hurt the dog at all, it's just irritating to them...like fingernails on chalkboard. A friend of mine used in on her 2 for a walk and they started behaving immediately!
