| Tiny Yorkies I have a tiny male 3 1/2 lbs very small fits in my purse. He was a father of a litter of my pups May 1/15. I have my litter advertised for sale and wanted to check. Does anyone else get this question that they are looking for a 1 lb yorkie. My boy is very tiny framed (not chunky fat short) but is strong healthy with champions all along his pedigree. Any input would be great thanks Catherine |

| I am not a breeder but a full grown 1 pound yorkie (if it is even possible) would be probably be plagued with health issues.

| Not a breeder but would suggest pointing those enquiries to relevant sources of information which confirm breed standard and/or the guinea pig/hamster section at the local pet store. |

YT 1000 Club Member | *Snort* I've never heard of anyone wanting a 1lb yorkie and as a future breeder I wouldn't sell to someone asking for one either. I understand wanting a small dog, but if one wants something that little they need to look into a rodent as a pet. My opinion of course, but great way to slip in an advertisement lol |

| " tinys" as those Are often called, require very special care. Are more prone to a variety of issues from health to environment. Placing/selling one of those is a precarious situation as they can have so many problems and the $$$ mount up. I hope someone like Ladyjane would come on as she is more knowledgable than I with these little ones. I had a barely 3 pound Yorkie and was aware of she special needs so have some limited knowledge. We did deal with some costly health issues but she lives to be 11 years old with a great deal of effort, and love, of course.

| Tiny 1 lb I told the lady 1 lb is too small. She tried to insist she had seen a tiny one and the owner insisted it was 1 lb. I would not sell this lady one of my puppies. I want as loving homes for them as they have here. I wanted to check as I have never heard of a yorkie that small. My AKC registered male is 3 1/2 lbs last time I weighed him and he comes with AKC Champion lines. He is small but in no way frail and runs around the house playing with his ball. Thanks for the input everyone. I will try to post a pic of him and pups but having trouble with pics being too large. |

| I am new and just replied to everyone. I agree a 1 lb is way to small. I would not sell to this lady who wanted a teacup and insisted she heard of 1 lb from a breeder. My boy is 3 1/2 lbs healthy but smaller than my girl. |

| The Lady that Called is Cindy from Edmonton and she was serious. I said I had a small puppy should be approx. 4 lbs grown and Cindy said that was way too big. I said anything under 3 lbs would probably be frail. Cindy was very rude to me then and insisted that there were 1-2 lb yorkies. That is why I asked if anyone knew of someone with such tiny yorkies. |

| I saw a Yorkie on TV years ago that was 1 lb, he was the smallest Yorkie on record. He only lived about 3 years and had health problems. So my guess is that it is a rare occurrence to have a 1 lb Yorkie. However, I have often heard of 2 lb Yorkies . I have a little girl that is 9 months and 2lbs 7ozs. |

| The breeder I got my yorkie from had a really little one a little over a pound and she didn't want to breed for that tiny just happened and she wouldn't sell it because it's to fragile and could have lots of health issues she kept it since she is use to dealing with newborn puppies. Her thoughts are 3 pounds and over for happy healthy fur babies |

| Any Yorkie that small, is more at risk for injuries and health problems. My first Yorkie was a smaller one and was bought under the impression she was a t cup Yorkie . I did some investigating and there really isn't a t cup. Yorkshire Terrier FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions About Yorkies
