| You might want to try posting your question in the breeder forum as well. There are plenty of experienced people there who can help you. Here is the link: Breeder Talk - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community |

| I'm not a breeder, but I believe in finding a great mentor, someone who already knows the breed and breeding. Read and research every good source you can find on Yorkies, including "The Complete Guide to Yorkshire Terriers." Answer for yourself the question why you want to breed. Consider carefully if you have the time and resources to invest in this demanding hobby. Also check out federal regulations regarding breeding. There were some big changes last year regarding how many dogs a breeder can have inside their home, and changes regarding sale of puppies, I believe.

| You need to go to dog shows and find a mentor. Breeding should only be done to better the breed. Reputable breeder sometimes are lucky if they even break even.

| Its good you're researching. I'd suggest volunteering for a rescue, shelter, or pound and then see if you still think becoming a breeder is a good idea.

YT 500 Club Member | Go to the pound. Look at all those little and big faces with no one and nowhere else to go, and really ask yourself if the world needs more dogs purposefully brought into life than there already are. Doesn't matter what breed, there are too many. Just my opinion. |

YT 500 Club Member | And I'm not just saying that. I'm really asking you to go to the nearest city animal shelter and walk down every aisle and look at those dogs. And then ask yourself that question again. |
