| I normally don't suggest switching food right away but beneful has a few lawsuits out there and people claiming it killed there dog so I would switch very fast. I really like Royal Canin and Wellness.

| Welcome to YT, make sure the transition is slow and gradual spread out over 7 to 10 days, other wise it will cause diarrhea which you do not want in a 10 week old puppy.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If the puppy is doing fine, I would *not* switch the food right away at all....this could result in a very sick puppy if you transition when he's already in the stressful time of switching homes/environments/everything. I'd wait about 3 weeks and do it then. The last thing you want on your hands is a sick super young puppy just bc you wanted to switch foods. Btw, I think Nature's Logic is a great kibble...can get it on Amazon.

| Congratulations on your new baby!! He looks like a sweetheart. I love his name. My first boy was going to be a Winston, "Winnie" for short, but he turned out to be a Max. Enjoy your adorable puppy!

| I've actually had success doing a fast switch but then again my pup had only been on dog food for a couple of weeks or so, so not as long enough to get settled? She was on puppy chow and I switched her to wellness core puppy formula wet food and luckily had no problems, but I sure was watching her just incase. I've kept her on mainly Wellness ever since and she does great on it. I currently have a good bit amount of the puppy formula dry with a good bit of mixing with the adult weight control for toy breed. It'll be awhile before the puppy formula dissipates completely. but figure for now it'll give a balanced transition ^^;;

He was also really good boy during the car ride home. Anyway, the whole food thing was my biggest headache for the first two weeks. My breeder also gave me kibble he was previously eating. I think out of nervousness, he had a loss of appetite and I couldn't get him to eat. He didn't eat the first day. I think he ate the second or third day after starving! And then, he ate somewhat regular. I tried to change his food after 3 weeks and he had upset stomach. I think the switch might have been too soon. I dunno what I could have done differently, or it was just a waiting process. But this was the list of kibble Scottie tried out: Canidae (pcs ended up too big), Fromm (was doing well on Game Bird flavor, until I switched it to Salmon and Tuna, which he ended up having diarrhea for 2 weeks!), then settled on Acana Singles (he switches between Duck and Lamb). Occasionally he gets Orijen Regionals freeze dried as treats, because his stomach is too sensitive for any other 'dog treats'. Good luck! Hope your yorkie has an iron stomach, because cleaning up diarrhea is like the worse thing everrrr | |
