| I can't get her to go potty outside My baby sparkle does well using pee pads I don't crate her because she whines and barks for hours. I have a set up in my hallway where her pads are and I leave my room door open with my hall door closed so she can void but not get into any trouble. she doesn't really have accidents and when she does it's just because she didn't aim right. I take her out; after she eats (i free feed and take good away about 2 hours before bed), when she wakes up, and at least about every 2 hours in general(if she hasn't eaten yet or she's up playing). When I take her I just stand there not wanting to signal any sort of play time, she just runs the yard, sniff around, try to put EVERYTHING IN HER MOUTH, and she runs up the stairs to go in the house. I keep her out just a little longer because I know she just wants to get in because she has to potty but she will not go until I let her in the house. What do I do about this? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Have you tried bringing a soiled potty pad outside with you yet...to give her the idea? And then if she goes outside, you obvs want to treat her and praise her to the end of the earth.

| Bella mainly potties indoor on pads, and she never used to potty outside at all until one day, while we were walking in the park, she did it. I was so surprised and I didn't have any bags with me to pick up the nuggets, so I kind of had to kick them into the bushes . Now I carry a bag with me every time, just in case. I think it could be a developmental thing, and your dog just hasn't realized yet that it's okay to potty outside. Maybe if you could take her on an extended leash walk at a time you're sure she has to potty, she will go out of desperation, and you can praise her profusely to let her know that it's an okay thing to do. |

| Do you walk your pup? i was having the hardest time getting Maggie to consistently go potty outside. We would go out to the back yard she would play a bit, and then want to go back inside. Then in minutes I would find an accident on the floor. I tried so many things, then I tried walking her morning/noon/evening - just quick walks up and down the street and for whatever reason, she potties every time. Now I can walk her just morning and evening and she doesn't have accidents during the day. She plays in the yard, and potties in the street, LOL. Walking is a pain when you are tired or its raining etc, but it beats the accidents. Anyways, worth a shot to try.

| Have you tried just leaving the harness on when in the house so she'd get used to it? And then put the leash on and let her roam. Don't know which harness you use but buddy belt is one of the favorites here. Maximo sells them and will help you with all questions/concerns. |
