| New groomer for Bella The past few times Bella has been groomed, she has shown signs of stress and possible abuse. The last time, she had diarrhea, and she was terrified of bath times. Yesterday, we took her to Petsmart for the first time and had her groomed there. We figured that since there are glass windows onto the grooming area, Bella would be safer from abuse. Bella came back MUCH happier. The groomer said that Bella was nervous, but a sweetie, and she let Bella lick her during the grooming process to make her less nervous. We will take Bella back to Petsmart in the future for grooming. The Petsmart groomer wasn't perfect, and the hair on Bella's head was a little asymmetrical, with a wisp of a curled bob pointing forward on one side, like Australian detective Phryne Fisher (see below). It was nothing that a quick snip with the scissors couldn't fix, though . I'll post a photo of Bella's new haircut (without the Phryne Fisher bob) later. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | It is a worry isn't it? My Dara almost everytime she went to the old groomer had diarrehea there and one time she had a razor burn!! We discuss that one a lot when I went back in the next day. I have a new groomer now - she comes to our home. Wednesday we did Dara - a pretend show groom. I watched and helped Melissa wash her and we bonded over the fact that we are product junkies! It was quite cozy in our small washroom. Then I watched her blow dry and brush her out. We discussed each step of what product we were using and why. And then once I was satisfied with her ability to handle and treat Dara well, I let her on her own with just occasional peeks in to my grooming room. You can see her results I posted pics in our Yorkie brothers n sisters. And btw no diarrehea on Wed. My gal has a much more nervous disposition and I think that any public grooming shop will tend to stress her out. Looking forward to seeiny your gals new bob!

| I won't drop my dogs and leave them anywhere. I also haven't found anyone who does a great job. I do my own, and I'm no worse than the groomers. I just did Teddy, chopped his hair off and he looks cute enough. I do have nice clippers that LadyJane suggested and a couple of good sheers. Add a nail clipper from Mimimomo (Jenny) and I'm all set.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Grooming Yorkies even for show has nowhere near the scissoring and shaping required as compared to a BRT. I groom my Yorkie myself and my retired BRT. Dara was the first dog of mine I have ever dropped off at a groomers -- I am not too enamoured with that. The show groom for this learner took 4.5 hrs from wash to finish. And for some folks it is necessary to take to a groomer; some don't have the confidence and or skill required, some folks might have a physical limitation etc etc. But I have to say it is really nice when they come to your home.

| Bella's haircut Here she is! The haircut isn't perfect--I would have wanted it a little shorter on the face--but it's not bad. |

| Callie got a less then stellar hair cut today. I use the groomer at my vets office since everyone there knows Callie. I tried to groom her once and cut her paw when I was shaving between the pads of her paw so I'm scared to groom them myself. I trim up between groomings some but won't fully groom them myself.

| I am just... not a groomer. lol. I thought about trying myself but eh, I'd prefer him to be done by a pro. I like Jackson to be cut a particular way and I've only found 1 groomer who can do it, our awesome mobile groomer that we've had for 4 years now, maybe more. Jackson is always a nervous wreck no matter what (vets, groomers, etc), it's just his personality, but I can tell a HUGE difference between when I used to drop him off at a public grooming shop and the mobile. With the mobile, he always comes out happy, and will even go up to the groomer after when she gives him a treat. He won't take a treat if he's super stressed or scared of someone so I know deep down he likes her lol. And he's done in my driveway within an hour to an hour and a half.

| What a great picture of Bella! How old is she? I know this is off-topic of this thread, but how does one go about finding a mobile groomer? We don't receive telephone books any longer here and I looked online for groomers in our city. Not many independent groomers are listed at all, just the big chain ones mostly. I don't know anyone who has a dog that gets groomed either. I did ask at the vets and they gave me a card of a relative of the one clerk who works there but I don't know if she is any good or not. I don't want a lot of hair taken off my puppies, just a little bit. I have trimmed their feet and legs but haven't touched their faces or ears and I think their ears especially need to be trimmed.

| I keep my Bella long so there isnt a lot of clipping to be done and I do alot of it my self but I cant get the nails trimmed I have tried and tried I just cant get it done. So I took her to a groomer about 45 min away because my vet said they were good and they were nice and I think they were good with her but it took them all morning and all I wanted done is nails and feet trimmed and a sanitary clean up so to make it worth their time I said bath and dry her thinking It would be a treat to have her done professionally she come out ok and they said Oh we dont know how to do the top knot like you. All I do is put a scrunch in it. Maybe I was expecting to much. |

| There used to be quite a few mobile groomers in my area. I think because there are a lot of houses spread out. I used to have one that did all three Shih Tzus. It was an all day commitment with her though, lol. Because it was in my house and she did it for so many years, she took breaks, had her lunch..etc. But the puppies were so much happier having it done that way. She eventually retired and moved to Florida..so I had to look again, and found a few but I definitely didn't like the one that came in her own van. Since then I've found the most amazing groomer. She is in a Store, but its a small pet clothing store, and she's in the back, with windows and the top 1/2 of the door is left open..so anyone can look in at anytime. She uses oils to give mini dog massages, aromatics to keep them calm..its quite an experience. I'd like her to do my hair!! She's no more expensive then other local groomers, but its just a very laid back, zen kind of atmosphere. My dogs literally wag their tails the whole way in…and run to her as soon as we walk in. Sunni has been to her yet. But pretty soon |

Here's a link to a mobile groomer in Auburn, NY: Bailey's Bubble Bus Auburn, NY, 13021 - YP.com . I don't know how close they are to you, but if it's too far away, they might be able to recommend a mobile groomer who is closer to you. | |
