| Yorkie Hair Type Hello everyone: I'm hoping to learn a lot about my Yorkies. I have two females (littermate sisters ), 3 years old. Their appearance is quite different. Lila is quite silky but Helen is quite a different story. Helen's hair is incredibly thick and fuzzy. She's incredibly cute and looks like a little afro with legs. I am have allowed her hair to grow and would like to continue to do so. What kind of hair is this? The breeder can't explain. Does anyone out there have any info? |

| Post a picture so we can see what you mean. I've never seen what you're describing.

| Sounds like a cotton coat but that's very hard to keep long. A photo would definitely help. |

| I agree, sounds like a cotton. My girl has very wavy hair and is very fluffy and thick, it grows like a weed. But it is incredibly soft too :3 They are often described as looking bigger than they actually are. Just recently had my girl's hair cut down real short than normal for the warmer season.

| hair type Thank you all for answering so quickly. As soon as I can figure out how to use my phone to take a picture & post it, I will. I think cotton coat hits the nail on the head. Does anyone keep a cotton coat long? Is a coat ever too thick for a dog's welfare? Also, does anyone know how to deal with a dog with constipation? I add Missing Link, which helps, but would like to know of any other remedies or any better remedies. Helen & I appreciate the advice. |

| It sounds like your little girl has a cotton coat. You'll know if she is too hot with all of that hair. I have had Yorkies with both, and I think they are both pretty. A cotton coat is more difficult to keep long because it mats easily. My little girl, katie, was with her breeder until she was three. She has a silky coat, but it is unusually thick. I hated to cut it, but Katie got too hot with it. The attached photo is her with her breeder. I love the long hair, but Katie is much happier now, and I think she looks much cuter now too. For constipation, canned pumpkin works. It also works for diarrhea. You can also run some warm water on her anal area to relax the muscles. I hope it helps.

| Is it possible she has some other genetics hiding on the background?
