| Hi everyone ! I'm a newbie to having yorkies and to this website. Hi. I adopted my first Yorkie 3 months ago from a puppy mill rescue organization. I also have a Toy poodle who has been my heart for 10 years. This little girl Bella( yorkie) I adopted was the sweetest dog. So sad. Didn't know what grass was, or how to walk on leash, or be loved. Afraid of everything and everybody. She just started doing well when she took ill. Had her in vets three times then ER vets. Turns out she had mast cell carcinoma end stage. Broke my heart into pieces. Her whole life in a cage having puppies. She gets a forever mom and home and has to go. It was heartbreaking. Still trying to wrap my head around it. She passed on Valentines Day. I have been broken. The foundation that rescued her actually went and bought me a yorkie to help with the hole in my heart. Really I was not ready either was Peanut but what could I say? Well, I have Pasha Rose now who is about 6 years old. Only 7 pounds. Had her last litter 9 weeks ago. I'm getting her spayed and her teeth done on Wednesday but I am very afraid because of her age. Also because I know small dogs need special care when put under. Thermoregulation and good perfusion. I am on the fence about getting it done. From what I understand the risk of mammary cancer and others if not spayed. Your thoughts? I can't lose this little cuddle bug. |

| Hello and welcome to YT. I am sorry to hear about Bella's passing but at least she was in a loving home for her last few months rather than the hell hole she stated out in at the puppy mill. Definitely get blood work done to make sure Pasha Rose can handle the anesthesia. Here are some YT post that might help. | Welcome to YT! Thank you forgiving your previous Yorkie baby a home and love for her last days! I have a 6 year old, 3 lb. 14 oz. Yorkie who does fine with her dentals. Get the pre-dental blood work and a vet who has experience and you should be fine. Dental disease is more dangerous than the dental usually! Keep us posted.

YT 1000 Club Member | Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I am glad you got another baby to love. I recently took in a 9 year old Yorkie and I am amazed at how young he thinks he is at times. He is an angel. Good luck and enjoy your new baby. Jade and Teek

| So sorry for the loss of little Bella, 3 months, 3 years matters not, the love is there, and so is the pain when we have to let them go. Take comfort in knowing the 3 months you did have her, was the best life she ever knew. Thank you for opening your heart yet again and accepting lil Pasha Rose into your life and heart. Follow the advise of members advising to get the proper blood work done before surgery. Spaying is for her future health, it is the best thing to do.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Bless your huge heart for taking in these former abused and used dogs. I'm SO very sorry for your recent loss, how very heartbreaking, unfair, and sad. That poor baby finally had a chance to really live, only to be taken by illness . I am glad you have another little one to fill your heart though. I would absolutely get her spayed, without a doubt. Especially given she could be at higher risk of issues due to how her health has been neglected thus far. As long as her pre-surg blood work checks out fine, she should do wonderfully under anesthesia. And btw, a big welcome to YT !
