| *WARNING* re: hair pouf! USUALLY, I am writing funny stories about Teddy but once again he has thrown me for a loop with his antics!!! Earlier, I posted some pics of Teddy in this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...sculinity.html You can see that he has his topknot and the small bouffant that is in the front over his eyes in typical YT fashion. Well, later today, he was sniffing his crate and got his pouf hooked on the crate door. It seems a fairly innocuous occurrence BUT, in typical drama queen fashion, Teddy dragged the crate by his pouf over 6 feet SCREAMING all the way. I was actually in the room when he did this and would have responded sooner but my ulcer prevents me from jumping up quickly! I was so scared he'd damaged his eye or something but he was just scared and I think he hurt himself from dragging his crate around by his head when, initially, he was just scared from being caught! Anyway, I have attached a pic of his crate, the door and his after picture. The fur over his left eye was pulled from his topknot! Poor little guy! I hope this doesn't make him scared of the crate which he loves! I also thought that his experience today is a good way to remind us all to watch these guys around fans or machinery or anything which may catch fur on any part of their body! Injury can happen so quickly! I need to go away now and get something to drink to calm my nerves! Crazy Teddy!!!! Once again his antics prevent me from finishing my work! |

| Poor guy. I am sure he was terrified. If he's like my Barney, he will be a nervous wreck around that crate for a while.

| Poor lil Teddy, big grate was attacking his hair. Ya know that fan post was a good thing. I don't think anyone would put a fan on the floor, but, hey, ya never know. I hope sweet lil boy is now not scared of his crate.

| Oh poor Teddy. The things that happen to him! You should write a book, maybe in the Dr. Seuss format about him and his antics, " Oh, The Things That Happen to Teddy and Why Mommy Has An Ulcer" by Teddy's Mom with YT collaboration. I hope today is a quieter day and you can get some things done.

| I am so sorry you both had that scare. No matter how hard we try, we can't always protect our little ones. That's so difficult to accept. I hope you and your beautiful Teddy have some extra cuddling time together today.

| Poor Teddy, and poor Misty for worrying so. I must say this is the first time I have ever heard of such an incident, and probably not something the average Yorkie owner needs to be afraid of. But yes, you are right, accidents and injuries can happen so quickly.

| Ouch !! You should contact Guinness and see if he set the world record for dragging a crate with his fur! Glad to hear he is OK. |

| Poor Teddy! Thank goodness you were home when this happened. What if you had been away at the time? He'd probably really have stressed out and maybe really hurt himself - an eye, ripped a toenail off trying to scratch the topknot loose from the crate - who knows what. This is the day the hair pouf would poof!

YT 1000 Club Member | Wow! I was so freaking out when I read that. My Yorkie has a metal crate that is big enough for a boxer to fit in, so I am trying to picture my little 7 lb guy dragging his crate anywhere.... Luckily I saw the picture and realized it was my cat's crate your Yorkie was dragging around and I felt so much better. Poor little guy, I hope he is okay. I can only imagine how upset he was about that. Teek says he hopes his head doesn't hurt after that.

| You see those verticle slit openings on the carrier? I was taking two of mine to the vet years ago....had them in there with collars on and rabies tag and a small bell so I could hear them running around the house......one of the dogs got his rabies tag thru the slit, where it immediately turned sideways, trapping the pup in a hanging position inside the carrier......He went absolutely ballistic, screaming and hollering at the top of his lungs....I almost wrecked the car trying to get pulled over and rushing to the back to see what in the world was happening. That was the last time I had anything but a breakaway cat collar for tag and bell. Have since removed the bells too, as one got his hind toenail caught in the cut on the top of the bell and we had to go to the vet and get the metal bell cut off his toe with orthopedic instruments!!! These dogs will KILL you, with all the trouble they can get into and how fast it happens! I am so happy you were there with your baby and could rescue him from the "Yorkie Eating Carrier", as it chased him across the room!!!! |
