| How earlier to neuter My puppy is currently 11 weeks old. He is very aggressive (biting, growling, mounting everything). What is the minimum age they can be neutered? |

At 11 weeks old there is no way your puppy is "aggressive". He is playing the way pups play. You should see my two pups play, you would think they are trying to kill each other, but they are just playing. The mounting at this age is also just play. My Shih Tzu would mount my yorkie when playing when we was about 13 weeks, but he no longer does this. You are his new mom, so you have to teach him that this type of play is not acceptable. It will take time, but he will learn. Both of my dogs had to learn that it okay to play with each other like that, but not with the humans in the house. As far as neutering, most would say not before 6 months of age. Both of mine were fixed at 6 months. Good luck with your new little boy! | |

| Up until 12 weeks a pup should still be with there mom learning about biting and such. If he is biting you have to teach him not to and you will have to find the way that works for him to teach him it might be saying no and putting him in a dog play pen, or giving him a little squirt with a water bottle and saying no. I would not neuter a pup until 6 months but your issues are not because he needs to be neutered.

Senior Yorkie Talker | My Jack is 16 weeks and just saw his vet yesterday and asked this question. He told me he wanted to wait until Jack was at least 6 months old. He also mentioned that Jack needed to reach the 4.4lbs he anticipates he will be full grown. And he wanted his adult teeth in, because if he has not lost all his baby teeth he wants to pull any that remain while he has him out. Just our vets opinion for comparison to what else you hear. Good Luck! BTW, Jack is humping like his on viagara!

| 11 week old pup is playing, they get excited, growl, mount, nip / bite, it's all playing. My puppy females would mount their toys & the older girls, growl, nip / bite, all play. As lovetodream advised, you have to teach the puppy biting is not acceptable, what ever command word you use must be consistent, meaning, the same word MUST be used when the biting needs to be stopped. I would say "no biting" when my puppies would get very excited and bite hard. It's all just playing, and being a puppy, not being aggressive. As far as age for getting him neutered, I suggest speaking to your vet. I never owned a male puppy but had family and friends that did, they were all small breeds, theirs were neutered between 5 to 7 months.
