| Help! My daughter brought home a teacup yorkie two weeks ago. He's so adorable but refuses to want to train. I'm new to this breed and everything I've read has not been good. Please give me some encouraging words. I hope she didn't make a mistake by picking this breed. |

| Your daughter picked a wonderful breed and it is going to take more than 2 weeks to train this new puppy, first of all how old is the puppy and what are you trying to train it to do potty train or what? If you expect this puppy to be potty trained in 2 weeks think again bc sometimes it take over a year to get a puppy completly potty trained with out any accidents just be patient and praise it when it does something right and it will learn quicker.

| How old is it? My Baxter was in an exercise pen with a pee pad, so he has quickly caught on to where to go. We had to take him to it and get him to go, then give him a treat. Now at 13 weeks all we have to say is Baxter Pee Pad and he runs for it. Hope this helps |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | It takes alot of work and patience to potty train a yorkie, but believe me it can be done!!! You need to pick a plan and stick with it....you will find tons of ways to train them on here, but you can not fully expect your little one be trained until she/he is at least 6 months old!! Let us know more about your little one and I am sure we can help figure out a plan for ya'll!!!

| Chico is only 3 months old. I know its not going to happen overnight but my concern was that I read many articles that say that Yorkies are IMPOSSIBLE to train. That is what has me worried. I don't know anyone that has a Yorkie so I had no positive feedback. I am training him on a wee wee pad but I eventually would like to get him to go outside. It's just too cold right now to try that. Most of the time he gets the peeing right, but not the pooping. That he does wherever he wants. And he mostly goes during the night when I don't see him so of course I can't do anything in the morning. Thank you so much for your feedback. Now I know there's hope! |

| One thing....you have to be positive and use positive re-enforcement! Like a child, some little furbabies do things just to spite you (or it seems like it sometimes). --so, you need to be good to them and they will be good to you! Praise, Praise, Praise - they love it and you will be amazed at the outcome! Use a crate or pen....something temporary until the little baby gets use to its surroundings and you. I can't tell you how I got my little guy trained, but he started on pee pads and now he goes outside too, but pee pads are still needed for those late night urges and when it is too cold/rainy outside. As for pooping....there was a post recently about that.....talking about how some won't go pee and poop in the same area.....You might want to read through that and see if you can find anything. My little guy seems to keep turning around (how dogs do) and miss his pad when trying to poop....But we have never found poop anywhere other than by his pad. He is good about going outside to poop and normally goes to the same two spots in the yard. Good Luck!

| When potty training Miko, we put puppy pads down in the spots where he had accidents...That way, everytime he went to those spots to pee, there was a pad there. Everytime he peed on his pad, we would say "good boy" and be so excited...it looked like a party He was trained in a very short period of time, and he's 1yr 9mos old, and he's still potty trained Hope this helps.
