| What has she been rolling in?! And is it something dangerous??? Merry Piper, age one and a half, thinks she is in charge of all things wildlife. She wears a bell on her collar partly so we know where she is at all times (she's a mischief maker) and partly to give warning to rabbits and squirrels who frequent our property. Tonight, she crawled over my shoulder to lick my cheek which is, oddly, one way she asks to go outside. The aroma that emerged right by my face was unbelievable! Her whole head smelled like a urine-soaked zoo exhibit--she must have gotten into something when she went outside earlier and I hadn't realized it. I tried to clean her fur, but she apparently wants to smell this way. When I let her and Finn outside, they immediately were on the trail of something I couldn't see in the darkness. We've had a lot of reports of foxes in our immediate area. Could this smell be fox urine? Also, what do I do if she's going after foxes? (Or raccoons? She weighs seven lbs.) Stinky noggin:

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Gosh I'm not sure what you could do other than tether her when she goes outside...?

| Ha, ha I just love those rollers. Bubba and Sissy are right now is busy rubbing their faces in the left over snow. Sissy is my stinky roller. She rolls in worms, snails, bird poop and poop. Right now she smells pretty good as it is too cold for worms, snails and the poop is frozen. Bubba often smells like pee. We have a male dog nextdoor and they pee thru the fence at each other. And yes, that is the time they decide to love on you. They are great at sharing

| ^^ Joan, lol, yes, they do love sharing the wonderful scents they acquire. Max likes to rub his face in worms or frogs that he finds squished on the pavement. I think the primary concern about urine or poop from wildlife is that it can contain the Lepto virus, which is really bad news.

| lol lil Merry Piper looks like such a sweet dainty lil girl. All my girls LOVED to roll in stinky stuff. I pray my lil city boy does not pick up this stinky habit. I would suggest tomato juice, this is used when sprayed by sknuk, it naturalizes the odor, but has to be left in, I don't think you want a sticky tomato head running around the house lol, lil cutie that she is lol.

| My Piper likes to roll, too, but so far I've been lucky that she hasn't rolled in something horrible! I'd keep a very close on your little ones if there is wildlife like foxes and raccoons about...Raccoons in particular can be very vicious and deadly--even to large dogs. Your little Merry Piper is just a beauty--"fragrant" though she may be...!! |
