Senior Yorkie Talker | Do you worry about someone stealing your purse (carrier) with dog inside? I have a purse style carrier with short handles so I carry it hanging from my hand, of course. When I am out, I worry that someone will grab my "purse" and get my baby who is inside. Does anyone else worry about this? I am looking for a purse style carrier with a shoulder strap, feeling that may be more secure, but I don't know. I take him with me to run errands, shopping, bank, etc. Does anyone have a thought on this topic? Am I being paranoid?

| I dont think you're being paranoid. Yorkies and other small breeds are often stolen. Even puppies of larger breeds. I think that you're taking precautions. I do worry about such a thing happening, so I think its totally normal.

| I use a front pet carrier. I keep one in my car & one in my truck for those "just in case" times. There's a pocket for your wallet. I'll put just my wallet in the carrier, my purse I put in the trunk or in my truck storage area , anyone wants to steal my baby has to steal me too, I don't think that's gonna happen lol

| In today's times, I worry about my purse anyways and I don't carry my dogs, so I don't think you are being paranoid at all. But, I just think you need to be vigilant about your surroundings and don't leave your carrier unattended. Always have your hand on the handle and always put your purse in your vehicle BEFORE you unload your cart. I think the way you present yourself has as much to do with someone trying to target you. They are looking for someone who doesn't pay attention, or gives them the perfect opportunity to snatch and run. I think some basic precautionary measures helps a great deal to not become a target.

| My neighbhor had a yorkie and used a purse. She went grocery shopping and put the purse in the seat that little kids sit in. After she put her groceries in the car she drove up forgetting the yorkie was still in the grocery cart. Fortunately she realized at within minutes of pulling off and was able to get her yorkie back. It's real easy to get distracted that's why I prefer a backpack. . Last edited by yavenay; 02-10-2015 at 12:06 PM. |

| I dont think you are being paranoid at all....I have seen and talked to people that have had pups stolen by all means of absconding that you could possibly imagine...from grocery carts, from arms, from purses, from cars, from carriers, from restaurants, from Home Depot, where someone asked to hold the little baby, and then took off like a spotted ape with the pup in her arms! No such thing as paranoid....Yorkies are the #1 stolen dog in the country...home invasions, grooming shops, pet stores, it just goes on and on!!! Never leave your pup unattended in grocery carts or cars...never allow anyone, ESPECIALLY strangers, to hold your baby out in public.....one of my new owners had her Yorkie stolen because she left her front drapes open so the pup could look out when the owner was at work......someone saw the pup looking out the window, and broke into the townhouse and stole her dog.....anytime my dog is with me, it is somehow attached to my body by some method of complicated security.....to get my dog, they are going to have to take my 200# body also....that wont be happening!! |

| Home invasion is definitely a fear or mine. I do have an alarm but Dutch is so friendly she would invite the burglar in and show him around. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Sound like something I would probably do! Can you give more info on how you have your little one tethered, so you mean a leash, my bag tether, or something else?

| When I had my little Bijou, I always worried about being away from home and someone robbing my home and taking my puppy. I would be sick if that happened. I could not stand to know where she was or who was taking care of her.

I hope whoever sold me this bag sees this and says so....I highly recommend this bag/purse/carrier.....and you can carry it on your arm or with the shoulder strap. (I took a couple of other shoulder purse straps off old purses and I clip them to this bag then go around my waist...to get this thing away from me, they have to undo the 2 extra shoulder straps that attach to the bag and go around my waist, and one crosses over my right shoulder and attaches to the bag, then the one that comes on the bag goes on my left shoulder. (These 2 extra purse straps are actually color coordinated with whatever top I have on, and can not be easily seen.) I know it sounds clobbered up, but it really is not very noticable, especially if you are concentrating on that beautiful pet bag! I got the salmon colored one, but it is more a subdued pink than orangy salmon color! | |

As for the additional straps....I LOVE IT!! I was thinking of attaching a shoulder strap to my purse style bag, which is rather large like a diaper bag. I think this is great! I don't care if it sounds funky to anyone or is cumbersome. I DON'T CARE! I absolutely can NOT lose my baby! OK, I am going to be on the hunt for all sorts of straps that I can match to my clothing as well. THANK YOU! GREAT IDEA!!

| I just googled my Jaraden pet bag....yep! Thats it!....coral-pink they call the color....They have even more styles! Let me know if you decide to get it when you see how nice it is! It is a VERY well constructed carrier, heavy snaps and zippers....nothing cheap or light but it was considerably less expensive than the one it mimics!!!
