| Entertaining a yorkie with minimal energy? I'm having problems with infection(s) and anemia right now, it's completely exhausting and I'm having trouble breathing. I'm going to the dr next week. Lola is being wonderful, she knows I'm sick and she hasn't left my side since it started. She's content to just lay with me, but I feel bad. I usually walk her a few times a week and play with her most nights. I haven't been able to walk her and we've been playing some but she won't play fetch for long, she prefers chase me. I've been doing her tricks with her too, but I'm not up to teaching her anything new. Any other ideas? I don't want to hide treats for her because she already gets into everything. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Would she chase a laser light, do you think? What about a Kong for chewing? I'm so sorry you're not feeling well . Hoping you'll feel better very soon!

| So sorry you're not up to par, hope you feel better soon. I use the laser light for Cody. No walks for us, to much snow and salt on our road, Back yard has 2 feet of snow, so that's out, Cody is suffering from cabin fever big time, so out came the laser light, ball throwing, several times a day I work him through his few commands and reward. I am sure others will have more work out ideas that will be easy for you. Get well soon.

| I relate to feeling bad when you cannot keep up with all of your doggy's activities, especially walks. But, focus on taking care of yourself, resting, so that you can get back to going on walks and playing more in the evening. Lola sounds like my boys -- they understand when I tell them I don't feel well. Sometimes they will act anxious around their usual walk times, but I can distract them with a few tricks for treats and then snuggling. We usually substitute car rides when we cannot walk, but it sounds like you are not up to driving. If Lola likes car rides, maybe someone else can drive? I hope you feel better soon.

| Thanks everyone. I thought it was bad to have them chase laser lights. I don't have a kong, really should get one, she's been chewing her whimzees alligators and her rubber butterfly. She usually gets in the window or lays with other people part of the day, but lately it's been all me. Lola is so sweet, one night she was eating dog food with some people food beef and carrots on top, and my mom started sneezing like 10 times in a row (normal for her). Lola stopped eating her beef, climbed on my mom to make sure she was ok and didn't get down until my mom said it was ok. You're right, I'm not up to driving. |

| I hope you are feeling better soon. I must have the laziest dogs around, they just like to be near me and especially if it is laying in bed on on a couch. They are great company when I don't feel well, and I guess they should get more exercise, but I don't think they care. They would rather cuddle.

| With my iffy back and troublesome hip, I have a good amount of down time here and there so we've had to adapt on those days. Tibbe loves to run and play in his back yard, goes for walks but needs lots more exercise. We have some improvised jumps and tunnels, ramps to simulate a minor agility course I set up in the den when I can and I can run him through much of it from the couch. Other times, Tibbe loves hand play and my pretending to "get" his feet, letting him bite my hands and fight me while in my lap, as I role him over and over, grabbing at his feet, scratching his back and tummy, grabbing back at his feet and he jumps on my chest, romps around up and down the couch, back and forth and every so often, he's overtaken with joie de vivre, and suddenly zips down his doggie steps across the den into the living room, down the hall and back up it, through the kitchen into the den - sometimes he makes the rounds a second time - and back up his steps onto the couch and jumps back on me and we start it all over. He'll keep it up for long periods until we're both tired out - me more than him from trying to keep him from falling off the couch since he doesn't think gravity applies to him personally.

| Lola and I play the foot game too. I also kiss her belly and she waves her paws up and down like more! more! I gathered the energy to take her on a walk today. She repayed me by having a messy poop, it was all in her hair. I cleaned her the best I could with tissues and let her walk a little more. Then in the car I made her a paper towel diaper and covered the seat with her blanket. I had to give her a full bath when we got home. I think my iron pounding is helping a bit, I've been drinking floradix (liquid vitamin) and OJ (vitamin c helps with iron absorption) twice a day and eating hamburger. I've also stopped eating/drinking dairy and coffee around the time I take the iron because calcium and tannins inhibit iron. The floradix is too expensive to continue though, so I'm trying another liquid iron. I really don't want an iron or blood infusion again. |

| Oh no! Lola was probably just super excited to get out. I'm glad you are feeling a better. I hope the other liquid iron works for you. Hmm, maybe my coffee and cocoa made with dairy is giving me an iron absorption problem.

Thanks As long as you wait 2 hours before and after taking iron supplements you should be ok. The studies aren't even definitive, I'm just not taking chances. Also don't take iron with other metal vitamins, they compete for absorption. Liquid iron is supposed to work better than pills. I liked the floradix but it's $20 for 2 weeks. I just ordered wellesse iron on amazon, it's $7 for a month. In high school my hemoglobin was 7 and ferritin was 0, and I tried for months to get it up with pills, ended up getting an iron infusion and had a reaction. Plus the pills are hard on my stomach. This time my hemoglobin was 13 and ferritin was 10 in december and my hemoglobin dropped to 10 in january from a really bad period. 10 isn't horrible but dropping that fast isn't good. ((Hemoglobin should be about 12-15 and ferritin should be 10-154, but most drs agree ferritin should be much higher than 10)) | |

| Does she like digging or finding things? One of the things I do with Magnus/Zoey is to put a toy under a small baby blanket and let them "find" it. I tie it up for Magnus to make it harder. Here's a video of them playing in case I was horrible at explaining what they do. LOL http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...ainy-days.html |

| I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. I don't have any better advice re: puppy excercise, I just wanted to give you a quick visual. Our youngest, Ernie, plays fetch by himself. He brings a toy to bed, then he starts growling at it and jumping on it. He then throws it off the bed and then runs down and gets it. He does this several times, until finally he is tired. He then proceeds to sit on the poor toy, with a very smug look on his face
