| Advice on Yorkies and Cats I have three cats, and just got my yorkie baby almost 2 weeks ago. I feel so bad for the cats, every time the come into the room Frankie takes off after them, most of the time the just run away, and sometimes swat at him and hiss, he just thinks they are playing with him so he keeps on them until they finally run back downstairs. I try to tell him no but most of the time it happens before I even realize a cat has come into the room. It's gotten to where the cats are afraid to even come upstairs and when they do they will just creep around the kitchen looking for Frankie and wont come around unless he's asleep. Then they will sniff him a little and go on their way. I'm wondering if this is how it will always be or if I just need to give it more time. Any advice on how to make the new family member more welcomed by my kitties and the kitties not so scared, would be great!! |

| We had had a cat for about 6 months when we brought Luca home. Because yorkies are so territorial, it took a long time for the cat and dog to stop chasing each other. We found ourselves fussing at the dog, because it is easier for the dog to learn what is wrong, compared to a cat. Granted, they still have it out some times, it has gotten better. So - there is hope, but it takes time. Luca seems to understand that he is not suppose to bite/bark at kitty, but sometimes she just pushes his buttons. So try to be patient and be sure you show affection to both animals. Especially apart from each other. Good luck!

| I have a 2 year old female tabby cat who just adores Bailey. And I've had him for only 8 days. But my cat has been raised around dogs, so it's in her nature to get along with them. She was wary of him for the first day or so and now they play! I'm sure they'll start getting along soon |

| Fozzy has a sister (Cat - Chewbacca) too. Same exact thing when Fozzy first came home it was kamikaze at the cat every time she moved. That progressed into chasing. That progressed into swatting (glad the cat is declawed) fights and the occasional hissing (cat). After almost 1 year together (June - close enough) it is now down to Fozzy occasionally jumping on the Cat, but for the most part they are really friendly together, sleeping next to each other on occasion and getting along just well. Sure they play, and sure they play pretty hard at times but their relationship is typical Brother/Sister type stuff, I'm sure it will grow. Just yesterday, I came home from work and both of my kids met me at the door, no fighting just looking for love. Fozzy and Chewbacca (yes, I refer to them as my kids!) |

| Oh the cats will get use to being Chased by your baby. I have 4 cats and Bradley never really messes with them BUT when we got Chase and he figured out what a cat was (took about a week and a slap from one cat) he will chase them though the house non stop and just bark at them. The barking is the worst. Nugget has been around cats so he doesnt really mess with them at all. Oh yeah Chase will go after my one cat Mocha and jump on her back, I try not to laugh but its cute too. The cats will adjust in time, I have learned that. Then they will become prob great buddys
