| Static electricity With the cold weather and heat on in the house I am noticing that Teasell my furbaby has such static electricity. What can I put on her coat to lessen this problem. It's at the point where she does not want me to brush or comb her. Thanks for the info. so I can make her comfortable |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Try a leave in conditioner or a coat treatment like vellus or Cowboy Magic.

| ...or even a very light coating of organic virgin coconut oil, or emu oil, maybe even olive oil. Very light coating so she isn't greasy...LOL. Cowboy Magic, the detangle and shine product, is nice...it has an oily feel, too, so I would use it very lightly, only as much as needed. We don't have the static problem often because we have more high humidity than low, but I have also seen it said to use dryer fabric softener sheets...I would not do that because it is my understanding that can be harmful to the dog so I prefer something they could eat if they lick their hair that wouldn't make them sick. Good luck!

| I usually only notice static when Piper suddenly raises her head after burrowing in a blanket...All the hair on the top of her cutest little noggin stands straight up and she looks sorta like a little troll doll (anyone else remember those silly things). Always makes me crack up, this little girl does! "Why does watching a dog be a dog fill one with happiness?" |

| Thanks Guys, I will try the coconut oil as I have that on hand. She keeps getting shocked and her little highness does not like that. By the way how long is coconut oil good for? I keep it in the refrigerator when not in use |

| Use a TINY amount of coconut oil, like a small pea size, rub it on your hands and run your fingers through her hair. It's very easy to end up with a grease ball, but greasy is better than staticy. |

| We use Vellus Static Stabilizer brushing spray mostly. A little organic coconut oil is good too, especially when long hair is drying out from the heat in the house.
