| How many is to many, yorkies that is? Saw a lady post on FB post a photo of a huge pack of yorkies 19 to exact that she keeps in her home along with 6 other dogs for a total of 25. Looked like a small house with pee pads scattered all about. I can't help but wonder what the fine line is between just enough, one to many, and animal hoarder. What do you guys think?

| I don't think it matters because it just means that she is making that many more Yorkies have a better life than they would if they ended up in a shelter. If she can handle it financially and if she enjoys it then I don't think it's a problem. They probably help keep her from being lonely and make her happy.

| I'm the wrong person to ask haha we have four dogs (our husky, our senior weenie, Winnie our yorkie plus one more....my mother in laws chihuahua) two cats a rabbit and a parakeet. ...I also have three little boys, watch two more through the week! Yet I still find my husband and I having the conversation about getting another yorkie when winnie turns a year! |

| That's way too many, I highly doubt her house is clean and the dogs are given enough attention. Plus the expense of having so many would be insane. My guess is she bred her dogs and kept the puppies. I'd say 4 for one person is my cut off, I'm sure some could handle and afford a few more, but not 25. |

| Is that just a regular lady or a news story picture? I would like to see this, lol. I know people do this with cats often. I have a friend with 12 cats but cats are different, you don't need to take care of them as much as dogs. She just gives them the whole basement and leaves them food.

| 25 dogs, pee pads through out the house hummm!!!! unless you have won the $500 million lottery, really, financially how can anyone keep up medically, keep 25 dogs groomed, meaning clean and not matted. Not saying she does not love all of them. Let me stop here. I say HOARDER. How many is one to many? I would say that would be what you can afford financially, medically, able to keep them clean, they have clean living conditions and you can give them quality time. 25 dogs lol is many to many.

no it is a regular post, join the the Crazy yorkie Ladies group on Facebook and you will see the photos. I don't think she breeds, and I think she fosters, but I think the 25 are hers. To me even if you have a large house and a ton of money that is to many dogs to pay attention to. It would be hard to see who ate what, who went potty where. I also think it would be hard to keep fights from happening. in 2014 I know of two different yorkie owners that had over 7 pups and each and came home to a dead yorkie and they were not even 100% which yorkie killed it.

| I think you should never have more then you can afford vet care for or more then you can make sure each is getting enough love and attention. 25 seems a bit to many in my opinion.

| I probably should have phrased my question differently, even if you can afford them should someone draw the line at qty. Yorkies are not heads of cattle living in pasture, so at some point to me it is not just about the money but about attention and health and stuff like that.

The most I have had is 4 I think that 25 is too many in my opinion... I myself could not live with the mess. Dogs pooping and peeing in my home on a regular bases, the non stop barking and what I can only imagine the fight for pack leader must be overwhelming, No thank you.

| Taylor my last post was not directed at you, if it was I would have quoted you. Many of the responses had to do with affording it, so I wanted to say that money or not, one only has so much attention to go around.

I agree. I think the most I, personally, could have is 4. I know of some who have more than 4 that take excellent care of them all and give them lots of loving, but I know I'd like to keep it 4 and under. | |
