| Himalayan dog chew I've noticed others saying they liked these but I was surprized when I got one from chewy . It's so hard and brittle ....would never be able to chew that down. She manages to bite off a chunk then struggles to chew it almost choking to swallow it......no way here. It's a yay stick with a bully inside... Anybody else try these ? |

| At one time, I thought Himalayans were the perfect chew for my boys in terms of safety/not choking. But Max chipped a couple teeth on one and that was it.

| I have been buying them From bestbullysticks.com and they laid around the house forever. My daughter in Seattle just got a rescue Great Dane Puppy, so for Christmas we got him a himalayan chew from a local pet store and sent it out. That package direction said to place it in the microwave for 45 seconds, then allow it to cool before giving it to the dog. So, I put the ones here at my house in the microwave. They puffed up and when I gave them to the dogs they chewed them up in no time at all.

| I also order them from bestbullysticks.com and do put one in the microwave at a time and Amy loves it. When she is done I take it away from her so she can have it again. |

| When I chatted with the folks at best bully sticks, they said you don't have to put them in the microwave. That was just what the package I had purchased at the pet store had printed on it but when I did microwave the old ones laying around here, my dogs did chew it up.

| Supposedly you put the small (less than 1" long) pieces in the MW and they puff up like popcorn. Then they can be eaten quickly. But the whole pieces you don't have to put in the MW. I tried a few times, and only once did it puff up like it was supposed to. Then the whole house smelled like burnt cheese. I like them bc mine don't LOVE them like stinky bully sticks or pricey wishbones. They chew on them when they are bored. Uni usually does it after her dinner. They last forever. Mine haven't had issues with the teeth bc again I don't think they love them that much to chew so hard. But we do have two members here who posted above me they both had teeth chip from using them.

| Mine used to chew (more like gnaw) on the Himalayan chews a lot. They used to lick it & grind it w/their teeth. They would leave teeth marks on it, just like a widdle mouse! Luckily they never broke a tooth (knock on wood) but I stopped giving them chews awhile ago. Really want to give them raw meaty bones but I'm too chicken to. I just religiously brush their teeth every night.
