| need help with bad habit Trinket is 7 months today and in the last month we have noticed that she is chewing the corners and the sides of the molding. She stays in the laundry room with my 3 chihuahuas when we are away and at night so she has plenty of company. She also has plenty of different textured toys to chew on if she is doing this due to teething. Anyone have any ideas on stopping this behavior as I have never had luck with bitter apple spray. All my passed dogs that were chewers enjoyed that taste. :/ |

| The only thing that saved our mouldings and furniture was an expen (the 36 "tall iris 8 panel) The girls did grow out of the habit and are completely trustworthy now but at that age- completely uncontrollable! |

| Lily chewed on our bed. It looked like a beaver had came into our room!!! The only thing that worked for us was to cover it. I guess out of sight out of mind. Lol.

| Our Gracie was a chewing machine when she was younger. I was actually afraid she was going to kill herself she was so determined to chew just about anything she was not supposed to. She was never interested in dog toys of any kind. I had read that raw hide actually is quite dangerous for dogs to chew because they are not digestible and vets have had to do many surgeries to remove rawhide parts that had been swallowed by dogs. Rawhide can also be a choking hazard. I didn't know what to do until I came here and found out about bully sticks. It took me a while to find just the right kind of bully stick for her. I always get the 12" sticks and then take them away when they are about 4" long so we don't have to worry about her choking. These sticks stopped the chewing binge she had been on. She chewed a lot when she first got one but after a while she needed to chew less and less. She is 4 years old now and one 12" Best Bully stick will last her a month. There are times when she gets all excited and I find she finds some comfort in chewing her stick during those times. They have really been a problem solver for us. |

| I have heard clear deodorant works but never have I tried it myself. I would be careful with chews like bully sticks and antlers they can break teeth. My dog broke one of her teeth on a bully stick.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Do you mean putting clear deodorant on the spot where they're chewing? I've never heard this, so it's interesting.
