| Yorkie Poo Crying My Boston is only 10 weeks old I just got him on Saturday. We are working on the potty training lol. He is my first pet and I can say I'm kind of obsessed with him already. I want to keep him in the room and bed with me but he had an accident on his first night with us and pooped on my husband's side of the bed. He was not happy. He got over it fast though since Boston's previous living residence was horrible so we were afraid he wouldn't go potty at all. We set him up a little blocked off area in the kitchen with a bed for him to sleep, and he has been screaming bloody murder since then. I feel so bad for leaving him in there by himself. His little whines are getting to me. I even try to wake up early just so he doesn't have to be in there long. Ridiculous I know. Is this normal for him to whine so badly since I do hold him every time he naps. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, it's normal. Since birth, he has always had company with his Momma and littermates, so it's shocking and scary for him to be alone. I'd put some stuffed animals with him, including one that is larger like his Momma was. You might also want to see if it helps to have the fenced off area in your bedroom, that might calm him down...

| I agree with Ann's suggestion. When Max was a pup, he slept in his xpen next to my bed. He had a little dog bed, some cuddle toys and a blankie, and piddle pad in his pen. The closeness was soothing to him.

| Heartbreaking sound, isn't it.... Totally agree with Ann and Kristin...we had Harry in a crate in our bedroom when he was teensy - but up on a table so he was on a level with us (at least we could all gaze at one another in the night...!!! ) plus of course he could smell us Good luck! Sally + Harry xx

| I bought one of those things about 20 inches long, you heat it up in the microwave, then wrap it around YOUR neck for pain relies.....I heat it up, cover it with a baby blaqnket, make it into a "C" shape, and put it in with babies....they think it is momma and will snuggle right up to it and go to sleep..... You can buy a stuffed puppy that holds a heated pad....this neck thingie is less expensive and works just as well. PLEASE be careful putting a small puppy up in your bed....we just had someone on here that did that and the baby fell off the bed during the night....appartently did not kill the baby, but broken bones and internal injuries are a reaql possibility IF the puppy actually does survive the fall from the bed. |

| In my opinion he is scared and really does need to be in your room so he knows your there. You just need to get a crate and put it in your room where he can see you. He may cry at first for a few days but you only take him out to potty when he cries and then put him back in. He will get used to it and that will be so much better then leaving him alone.

| All good suggestions! Hannah slept in her stroller by my bed until old enough to sleep with me without worry that she would jump off and get hurt. She snuggled with her stuffed toys and blankets and I was always aware of the room temp. since she was right there by me. Plus I could easily keep an eye on her during the night. I also put a pee pad under her blankets just in case. I think the sound of our snoring put and kept her to sleep! LOL! Now she sleeps with us all night long! It helps to have a few areas set up for them in different rooms of your home so they can be close to you and see you all the time especially when they are so young. As they get older you can put away some of the stuff and give them more freedom. Another good idea is to purchase one of the canvas crates small enough to put on your bed so Boston can be right by you.

| It is not unusual at all for a little 10 week old, one pound puppy to cry when alone; he misses his mommy and litter mates. It is also really dangerous for him to sleep in your bed now, in addition to the potty accidents. I started all my pups off in a baby's playpen next to my bed at night until they were a little older and had better bladder control. There are many great suggestions here and I'm sure he will get used to things soon. This is such a nervous time for new puppy owners, but hang in there, it gets better.

| You can also put your shirt, sweater, anything that has your scent on it in his crate or what ever he is going to sleep in.

| Holding him when he naps!!!! not a good idea, all dogs are creatures of habit. Once you start something you have to continue it, and that can be hard to break. What happens when you have to go out and he wants to sleep, will he cry the entire time you're gone? Just giving you a heads up, don't start what you may not be able to continue, these pups are just like human kids lol, ya gotta love these lil yorkies.

| Joan is so right! I can't get on my computer without Hannah napping in my lap. That is exactly what she is doing right now as I type. Funny that she is fine napping in her bed until I get on Yorkie Talk!!! I used to hand feed her every evening as I watched TV because I was so afraid that she didn't eat well enough during the day while I was gone. She always has kibble in her bowl but would eat out of my hand like she was starving. She got used to that pretty darn fast so as she got older I had to break the habit I caused. These little darlings are so easy to spoil!! I turned the heat up in the house so I could bath her but I don't have the heart to wake her!! I guess I'll browse around a little more!!

| Thank you a lot for your suggestions. I got a crate for Boston and he sits on my dresser so he can see me. He still whines a little because he wants out, but not as bad. I am assuming that is my fault because I can't seem to put him down lol. I am trying to break that habit for him and myself. Last edited by MyBoston; 01-02-2015 at 08:51 PM. |
