| Reusable wee wee pads smells! Hello everyone, I recently got two Biewer puppies and they are using the reusable cloth wee wee pads. But even though I wash them, the fishy urine smell lingers on the pads. I've tried bleach and baking soda in the wash with plenty of hot water. I even rerinse them. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if newspapers would be better! The disposable pads are so expensive so I thought I'd invest now in the reusable ones and keep them for a long time. But the smell bothers me. Does anyone have any solutions or comments? I'd appreciate your feed back! We have a small house and the bathroom with the pads is right off the kitchen - not an avoidable place! Thank you! |

| Add white vinegar to your rinse cycle. The amount you use will vary by washer size. I have an itty bitty washer (stacked in a closet I built) and add 1/3 cup (1/2 max) to the rinse cycle.

| Reusable wee wee pads smell I see you have received some other help since yesterday. One suggestion I have is to go online and google "how to get urine smell out of clothes". That brought up a number of links to choose from for help. One that I found was http://ask.metafilter@com/How-to-get...out-of-clothes. It had a lot of good ideas in this site itself. Hope you find your answer and work it out permanently.

| What laundry detergent do you use? I like to use Oxyclean or Arm & Hammer with Oxyclean in it. I use a small amount of bleach too. I have been using the rewashable pads for years and have not had any problems with them smelling after being washed. I order my pads from Ezwhelp.com.

| We use human grade disposable urinary pads from Sam's Club. (Not the pads in the pet department - these are over in the pharmacy area). Comes in a pack of 120 pads for around $24.00 - comes to about .20 each. They are about 23x36 inches. One pack lasts about 4 months changing them daily. Since my pup goes to work with me every day they are easy to take to work and dispose as needed or when we travel.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I was having this same problem and started that thread that Lisaly links to above. What solved it for me was adding a splash of Odoban to the laundry - just awesome! OdoBan 1 gal. Eucalyptus Odor Eliminator and Disinfectant Multi-Purpose Cleaner Concentrate-911061-G - The Home Depot

| How awesome! I just joined yorkie talk and what a valuable resource! Thank you everyone - so sweet of you to reply and help. I use Tide detergent. I'm realizing also what I'm smelling is the odor after my dogs have gone on the pads once or twice.... I guess I can't really do much about that other than change the pads more frequently. I use to think it was kind of funny and yucky as I would see people picking up after their dogs outside, but that's nothing compared to what I had to do recently when Maddie had a case of diarrhea!!! Oh how I wished I didn't have those wee wee pads!! 😁 Thanks again everyone! 💗💗 |

| You could also use Borax about 1/4 cup to the wash. I buy it at target.
