| Attn Minnesota Yorkie Lovers!! I have two Yorkie-poo's, aides 7 & 12 whom I had gotten from a breeder based outside of New Ulm, Minnesota. My mother also has a beautiful girl from there. This woman breed both Yorkie's and Yorkie-Poo's, but we had selected the latter due to allergies. Over the years we probably sold a dozen or more dogs for his woman because people so often admired our girls. However, 4 years ago when my mother contacted her to hopefully get another she found that the breeder and her husband had gotten in a bitter divorce and he had sold off all of her babies! I won't go into how sad this makes me & I'll try to get to my point. So now I have another friend who desperately wants a Yorkie and I have spent the week online trying to find her a little girl that won't need to be shipped and I've been blown away by how many scams I've run into!! Having found no Minnesota or Mid-West database for Yorkie's that was easy to find I finally created my own. This week I created a FaceBook page entitled "Minnesota Yorkie Lovers". I have created this page as a way for those of us who love the breed and the designer mixes to share pictures of our babies, health information, for breeders to have a free place to advertise locally and share breed information with owners, and also as a place that can be used to inform others of scams, puppy mills, bad vets, food recalls and other such things. I want it to be a site of love for the breed, but there is also the need to share some of that negative stuff. I think every state should create a FaceBook site for their precious Yorkie's. I also think that the link to this very useful site should be prominently displayed on these FaceBook pages. Let's face it (lol). FaceBook is the first place most people turn to to find something these days and we might as well take advantage of that. I have found some EXCELLENT information on this site, and I am very glad to find it. I wish I would have known about it last month when my 7 year old had a hematoma on her ear as there is a wealth of information and helpful feedback on this site. However, it didn't come up until my 3rd page in a basic Google search. So I think creating state FaceBook pages (which tend to come up at the top of a search) and including links to great sites like this will only help us all. I hope I do not offend admin with this post. My intent is only to increase awareness and make it easier for Yorkie-Lovers to find the local info they need. The Minnesota Yorkie FaceBook page is called "Minnesota Yorkie Lovers" Furry kisses to all!! |
