YorkieTalk Newbie! | Is my Yorkie pregnant? Hello, today I purchased a 1.5 year old female Yorkie from a gal. Right after I purchased her the lady text me & said that she might be pregnant because she "tied" with a male Yorkie 3 time well in heat. After she text me this she disconnected her phone & I have not been able to contact her. VERY FRUSTRATING!! So with that being said how would I be able to tell if she is or is not pregnant? I can't tell if she had had mood changes or anything because I just got her today & don't know her personality yet. Any help would be great!! But please no criticism!!! Thanks everyone |

| I would take her to the vet and have a check up, if not for anything else just because she is new to you and needs to be seen by a vet to make sure all is well |

First off, welcome to YT. I am no expert so I'm sure others with more knowledge will be on shortly. But if I was in your position, I would take her to the vet ASAP to see what they think and to get some advise. Also, I would get her spayed as soon as you can. How big is she? You also don't know the size of the male which could be dangerous for momma if he is bigger than her making larger pups. Good luck, and I sure hope she turns out to not be pregnant. | |

| Welcome to YT, the person that you bought her from, did she say if the dog had all it's shots? Rabies & distemper shots are very important. When anyone buys a dog, whether it be from a breeder, friend or on a street corner, always, always take the dog to you vet ASAP, preferably with-in 48 hours of getting a new dog / puppy. Even if this person had not said the dog may be pregnant you would have still needed to have a vet check her out. Did this person say what breed the male was. If this little girl is small and the male was bigger you can run into some serious issues if this pup is in fact pregnant. For the safety of this little innocent pup, please see a vet right away. And please keep us up-dated, your little girl has just gained a lot of Aunties that will be concerned about our new little member.

| I would just suppose since the person who sold you the dog, has now conveniently disappeared, there is something she is hiding from.....I would certainly take the dog to the vet and have an xray done....if it is possible, go ahead and have the dog spayed and the pregnancy terminated.....you have NO idea what size the male was, nor what illnesses/genetic issues he may have that will be passed along to the babies, which will be sold to unsuspoecting new owners. I would be very suspicious of this woman's behavior....there is a reason she has "jumped ship" with a pregnant yorkie......Pup could have even been stolen? Just my suspicious mind....... |

| First, let me say I am sorry that this person did that to this poor dog. I would guess about 95% sure that she is pregnant if they tied 3 times. If you don't want to deal with a pregnancy you can still have her spayed. I know it sounds terrible, but it is available to you. Please go and visit the breeder forum on here. They are wonderful people that can give you some great advice. Good luck.

| Welcome to YT!! I would defiantly make an apt and get her checked out right away. Hope everything works out for you and your new addition.

The person who sold you the dog is not trustworthy, so IMO it doesn't matter if she disappeared or not. Can you believe anything that comes out of her mouth? If she says the dogs tied 3x to a yorkie, it could be the truth or it could be a lie. Maybe it wasn't a yorkie but a larger breed with big shoulders. Your yorkie could have many complications and maybe need an emergency c section; not cheap. Go to the vet and get her xrayed. Then if it's not too late, get her spayed and terminate the pregnancy. The fact is, you have no idea what kind of dog tied with her.
