| The first 24 hours Hi YT! I posted in the pix about our new 15-week old little boy named Witten. We picked him up from Deb yesterday and he was every bit worth the wait- just the sweetest little thing. Already following me everywhere, loves to snuggle... We're working on the kisses, but it's only been a day so... I have some questions- I know this should prolly be in the training section, but figured I'd condense it all in on thread here. First, Billi is a bit, um, "upset" that she has a little brother. She barks and growls at him, jumps at him and runs away. Weird thing is that sometime's she's shaking her tail when she does this. You can tell she wants to play, but is jealous and confused. What can I do to help her while still being loving with Witten? How long does it take for them to get used to babies? Deb said around 2 weeks, but I want someone to tell me it'll be sooner Peeing: He will use his pad in his pen if I leave him in there for a few hours. If I let him out and try to train him at all, he will stop and pee where ever he is. With Billi I could pick her up in the middle of the act and move her and she'd stop peeing. Witten does not. I don't want my hands covered in pee anymore, what do I do? Yelping: After finally getting my step-daughters insane Pom out of the house, it seems our new pup is a yelper. I know some is to be expected since it's a new home and he was lonely last night. But when I left him alone earlier today, he screamed while I was leaving, screamed as I was getting home (which leads me to believe he was screaming the whole time I was gone ) and made a mess of his pen. What can I do to nip this in the bud? We absolutely can't have him growing up to have this behavior- I got a calming diffuser for him and we will resort to training, but what else can we do to discourage that behavior? Thanks so much for all the great help, here's a pic of our lil prince with Billi on their ride home

| Congratulations!! They are darling together. Potty training: keep his pad close by at all times. If he has to jump into the xpen, try putting one outside the pen. If he pees where he should not, say "Uh oh." When he gets it right, praise and give a food reward. For separation anxiety: work on leaving him for 5 minutes and gradually increase the time. You can do this in the course of a few hours in one day. Establish a schedule and he will fall into the routine. Best wishes!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, that pic is adorable!!! So PLUSH! Spoiled rotten, I see . The jealousy/needy thing will abate with time. My Wylie was the same way when we brought Marcel home and it took about a month for his neediness to lessen, and we just supported him through that time, giving him lots of attention. Peeing -- just keep doing what you're doing and have plenty of pads available if that's what you're planning to use long term. Tether him to you if needed. In time, you'll learn his signs that he's about to go and you'll be able to intervene. We also have some great potty training sticky threads in the training section. As for the yelping, I think this too will lessen with time - he's so used to being surrounded by an entire litter of puppies, so this is a huge adjustment for him and it feels very scary/off to him for now.

| Oh man I don't have much advice....but I wanted to say they are so cute! You can almost read Billi's face almost like "SERIOUSLY MOM" and he's all like "how you doin'?" Haha sorry I had to say it! That's One of the many of the things I love about dogs is their personalities! Congratulations! They are both gorgeous! |

And I'm already so attached, too. I will say he was better going to bed last night. Did start crying again at 4am this morning but I was able to sleep through most of it. I forgot how tiring it can be with puppies!

I think they'll be alright in the end. And thank you, they're an adorable motley crew!
