| Advice about rescue/adoption We currently have Gia our 11 month old Yorkie Poodle mix. We want to rescue another smaller breed doggy and my question is should we look to target a puppy 4-6 mos. or an older dog to add to our family and a companion for Gia? |

| I can't answer your "age" question with any authority other than our 11-13 yo 5 lbs yorkie is getting along fine with our approx 1 1/2 year old rescue 10 pound york/pom. My emphasis when selecting a rescue was size and temperament. I didn't want a dog more than twice the size of our old guy but MOST importantly a new dog needed to be of very good temperament with other dogs to increase the likelihood that major problems wouldn't occur between our old dog and new. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't think you could go wrong with either option, really. Your Gia is young enough that she may adapt faster than an older yorkie. Good luck on your search!

| adoption applications Just a quick question I have been online looking for rescues to adopt. I notice most rescue organizations require applications which is totally fine, however some I have come across want extensive info about me, my employer, and I get leery of some being a possible scam fishing for info to aid in identity theft. Any red flags I should look for going forward in my search? Example I emailed rescuecritters4usnow@yahoo.com of Columbiana County,Ohio and asked the names of the Vets they use for their rescues? They responded all that info will be provided when I take the adopted dog home. ??? Is there a school of thought regarding which may be more compatible adding a male or female to our home with our female 10 month old Yorkie/poodle mix. |
