| Found a yorkie in my neighbor's yard I found a yorkie in my neighbor's yard, but no tags, no collar, nothing. He's pretty matted up, but it has been rainy the last couple of days and I know how easy it is for a pup to get matted in these kind of conditions. I loaned my neighbor Cookie's crate so that she could catch the pup, and she is holding onto him now. I went down the block to the house where the guy whose yorkie always escapes lives, but it wasn't his pup. He told me a woman down the street has a yorkie that looks a lot like his, so I'm going to check with her pretty soon when she gets in. Anyone have any idea where is the best place to look for lost dog ads? I checked craigslist and there seemed to be nothing matching this pup. Should I check with local shelters? I'm going to give my neighbor the contact info for Chris' Rescue Angles if they need to turn the pup over, because I don't want to see him in the pound. But their daughter really wants a yorkie badly (she is in love with Cookie!), so they might just end up keeping the pup if no one answers the ads they're going to put up.

| Went and checked with the other woman and it's not her yorkie, as her pup died in August. The animal shelters in my area haven't had any reports of missing yorkies. My neighbor will put up some flyers tomorrow, but they said they're keeping the pup if they can't find the owner (my neighbor said the pup is exactly what they're looking for, as his daughter is nuts over my yorkie Cookie). I brought over some Royal Canin for the pup to eat while he's at my neighbor's and their young daughter just wants to feed it to the pup by hand (but her father is smart enough to keep her away from this new dog for now, as of course we all know nothing about him).

| I guess now I know which little dog it was barking last night at 3-4 AM and causing Cookie to bark like crazy last night!

| Sounds as though the pup is right where she belongs now, with your neighbor's daughter. Of course, that's if the former owner doesn't step up to the plate soon. IDK the requirements for that sort of thing, to reestablish new ownership. You've looked for the original owner. I guess, keep looking? |

"Found - a dog" "describe to claim" and a phone number or email address???? and never telling any of the callers what the dog is unless they get it completely right. What's the matter with me? I just don't trust people anymore. LOL Any others' thoughts about found signs? | |

| They're going to go check for a microchip this morning. I really hope they find this pup's owner, because he's obviously someone's pet since he's housebroken. But if they do, I think the heat will be on to find a yorkie for their daughter, as overnight this little guy has really warmed up to them.

| But Minnie was someone's pet and 100% housebroken too, and her owners just abandoned her in the yard and moved out of town before I got her. So sometimes incredible dogs do get abandoned.

| You do have to be careful about the information posted about the dog. We have a little yorkie on our web page that we got from the shelter. Someone called quite positive that the dog was theirs. They said they would be over to get him. The problem was that the dog was a female. She had been posted wrong. Someone just wanted a free yorkie. I would insist on photos. |

| You do have to be very careful. Years ago I had my little yorkie stolen out of my yard. A few weeks later someone advertised on a radio swap shop that they had a "Yucatan Terrior" for sale. I called and made arrangements to go see the dog on the off chance it was my little Sissy. It was. I told the woman it was my dog and she just said that someone had given it to her. I didn't argue with her. I just gave her the $50.00 she was asking and got out of there. Learned my lesson. Never let them out of your sight when they're out side. |

| I looked through every lost dog ad posted since Oct 21 on craigslist (that's the farthest it goes back), and didn't find any for a pup who looked or sounded anything like this guy. Does anyone know of other websites to check where people would post announcements for lost dogs? I'm in the San Antonio, Tx area.
