| PetSmart Dog Obedience Classes? Are the obedience classes at PetSmart any good? Or should I just go ahead and find a professional trainer in my area?

| My opinion ......find your own personal trainer. Not that I heard anything negative about Pet Smart training program. Maybe your vet can recommend someone to you.

| I tried the one at petco with my Makita some years ago and found it only slightly useful. . I would say find your own. |

| It really depends on your Petsmart and there trainers. Callie is 7 now but when she was a puppy we went to Petsmart puppy classes and I loved it and was extremely happy! The trainer still remembers us to this day when we see her in Petsmart.

| There are many positive reports about basic obedience classes at Petsmart. Like everything else it often depends on the instructor, but when I have observed it they followed the basic AKC plan leading to an AKC CGC certification. So I would just ask if they train to the CGC and if they do your are on a good course.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It totally depends on the trainer, I think. Another route you may want to try is your local shelters. The shelter where I volunteer offers several obedience and agility classes...so look around .

| I don't really know a lot about PetSmart training, but I would definitely look for a local trainer and see what you find. I looked into the Petco obedience classes for Lexi, but did some research on local trainers (wasn't expecting to find anything in a small city like mine). I was able to find an awesome trainer in my area who has a lot of experience and knowledge on not just training, but also animal behavior. AND her classes were cheaper than Petco! So, definitely do your homework before picking one. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | It depends on the PetSmart . . Go and talk to the trainer. Also they usually let you sit in or give you a free class. . . The trainer at my PetSmart was great. He helped me with Galen. We had a great time and it was well worth it !
