YorkieTalk Newbie! | very soft stools Hi everyone, I am new and this is my first post I have had my little pup Paris for about a month now. she was 10 weeks when i got her and she is now 14 wks. I have been feeding her Science Plan for puppies and small dogs. She has always had episodes of soft stools, sometimes it can be very mucusy and have some blood in it. I took her to the vets about three weeks ago and she was prescribed a medicine to help harden her stools. It did help but I she still has episodes of mucus and blood. she is very active and is eating and drinking well. she has been wormed and is due her next vaccination on Monday. I am very concerned. is this normal for little dogs to have soft stools? |

| Are you in London UK? Its not normal at all, have your vet check for Coccidia and/or do a culture of the stool. There are so many various things it could be including the food, but DONT start changing food just yet. Get to the vet and let us know what happens. Also just so you know your posts are being moderated. Once you have 10 valid posts your posts will show up immediately and will no longer be moderated. Welcome to YT, sorry your having problems, please get to the vet!!!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would have her checked for giardia, just to be sure. In puppies though, it usually progressed to be worse and worse. If the softness continues, I'd def switch foods. Btw, WELCOME to YT !

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Thanks for the advice Wylie's mom. I will be taking her for her second shot tomorrow. so i will be able to talk to the vet. Also I have noticed she is rubbing herself on the floor as though itchy. her skin looks fine, but maybe a little dry (no flaking). I have been bathing her with a aloe very shampoo for dogs, I hope its not this which is causing the problem. |
