| Hi again, Winston's doing great! Sorry it's been a while since I've posted here. Just wanted to let you know Winston (5 months old now) is doing great after his bout with some mystery toxin. He spent about 36 hours in the hospital with fluids and detox meds and has recovered completely. Hard part is we don't know what he got into in the first place....I have vacuumer's elbow from cleaning the family room rug every day! Thank everyone again for your support and concern during that scary ordeal. He's doing well with potty training, although I think it's ME that's getting trained . Even though I haven't posted, I've gotten so much out of reading the various threads here. Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your sweet yorkie babies! |

| That's great lil Winston is his lil happy self again, but such a bummer to not know what caused it, kinda scary. These lil critters get into everything, we have to be soooo careful with them. When ever I got a new baby I would baby proof my house for their safety, Thank god he is ok.

| It is so very easy for them to get ahold of some piece of something, maybe a pill that was inadvertantly dropped, dig around in your purse and get sugar free gum/mints/etc....I have experienced all of these situations and as a consequence, my house is fenced and crossed fenced! All dogs are confined to the sunroom and kitchen area. No one is allowed to roam around in the other part of the house....dogs are allowed to go with me in my bedroom, but only supervised. No meds are allowed anywhere in the house except in the part of the house where dogs are never allowed...guest bedroom, guest bathrooms, my son's bedroom and bathroom....when we go shopping and buy meds, they go into separate bags and are carried straight from the car to the bathrooms. No purses are allowed in any room where dogs are....my aunt came to visit once and she had heart meds in her purse.....dogs got into her purse and ran to their bed with the Rx bottle...thank God, they didnt get into the pills! Had one get into my purse and get a roll of Life Savers....could have easily been sugar free gum or something else sugar free....so no purses are allowed where dogs are allowed. I am so happy your baby recovered! These babies are like little bad kids! They move lightening quick and they sneak and hide and enjoy eating what they have collected! You dont even know you have a problem until you hear them choking or find them listlless. |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog So happy Winston is doing well. I had a pothos plant on the high table and it had leaves hanging down. I came home and of course JoJo had chewed up the leaves. I called the vet and they said that plant is not poisonous but boy I am so careful about plants in the house. Yorkies are curious. Watch any plants you have. |

I think every plant I had in my house was toxic to dogs!! Had to get rid of every one of them....replaced with silk plants, again in areas of the house where the dogs dont go. I did silk hanging baskets in the sun room....changing out between "airplane plants" and those glorious huge ferns! | |
