| Does your Yorkie have these Strange Habits? Strange Habit #1 Milo & I are usually always together but when he is ready for bed (he has one in the great room & another one in my bedroom) he will choose the one in the room that has the least light and/or sound. If I'm already in bed & have the lamp or the TV on & there's no light or TV on in the other room, he will come into my room as if to say goodnight but then turns right around & goes to the other room where he stays the rest of the night. Strange Habit #2 Any time Milo hears me using my hair dryer, he runs in & sits directly under me until I use it on him. Does anyone else have a Yorkie with these strange habits? |

| Hannah has some interesting habits: 1) she always sleeps with me but runs around the house until she's ready for bed. If I go to bed TV or light on doesn't matter. She usually gets into her stroller and cries for me to put her in bed. 2) Blow Dryer...she loves it. She gets a little of it when I dry my hair and after her bath. She makes me laugh because she does her happy little slide on a towel when I'm drying her. She makes it easy!!! And some more.. 3) A bad habit!! I can say kennel and she ignores me but if I have a snack she would run ten miles to get into her kennel. Not sure what I did wrong but I have 2 other girls that will jump in their kennel on command. 4) She doesn't always want me to pick her up. She will come to me but run if I put my hands out to get her sometimes. If I say "here" in a stern voice she goes under a chair or table and rolls over on her back making it harder to pick her up. My little girl always has a cute little agenda but it doesn't always include me. For the most part as long as she knows where I am she's good with that! Stop and no is not in her vocabulary! Not sure why because I say it all the time! She is such a busy bee!!

| My brother's Yorkie has a strange habit when it comes to being let outside. She lets you know that she wants to go out. But when you open the patio door to let her into the backyard she just stands there. And she waits. Once you sit down in the chair near the door she'll run outside. She does this every time with anyone who opens the patio door to let her out. She will stand there and wait and wait. Once you sit down, she'll run outside. |

That's good habit to have unless of course someone sits in the chair with the door open and no intentions of letting her out. Wonder what's going on in her mind? How she associates the chair sitting and going out to potty???

| I've tried to figure that out and so has my brother. I've been around her since she was a puppy and I don't get it. She's really great about communicating that she needs to go. And if you don't pick up on the hint, she'll bark or start tapping at your legs with her paws. Once the person gets up, she always does the same thing. She'll only go out once they've returned to the chair to sit. She's a great dog and is so entertaining so my brother just takes a seat so she can run outside. |

| Getting in her stroller & crying for you to put her to bed? Oh, that is too funny plus I have never heard of another dog that even likes, much less loves, a blow dryer! Maybe it isn't as unusual as I thought. Milo also has a crate but will not use it at all. I guess that's b/c he's always going to the vet in it or has to stay in it when we leave him (which is extremely rare & never for very long). I always try to leave treats & toys in it for him. We take him with us everywhere we possibly can. He is just our little sweetheart. |

| That surely is strange. In other words, she has you two trained . When we start to exit the house Milo is extremely good about waiting until I tell him "okay" which means that he can go ahead of me but then he'll usually turn around to make sure that I'm somewhere close behind. Another thing that he does that I find very strange though is that he NEVER, EVER asks to go out. Therefore, I take him out every few hours just to be certain that he's okay. Our mini-Schnauzer ALWAYS let us know when she wanted to go out. She would go to the door, sit down & bark one time. Last edited by dalady25; 10-26-2014 at 06:45 PM. |

I've seen that others have been successful using bells as an indicator/request to go out. Maybe that will work with Milo. I have no idea what will work with Tinker (brother's dog). But he's happy with her so I'm all good. | |

| That is funny too. Wouldn't you love to know what's going through their little minds? I'm sorry but I don't understand about using a bell. Exactly how does that work? |

| Cody lets me know when he has to go out to potty, strange thing is, he will walk back and fourth at least 15 times 25 feet one way, 25 feet back, then makes pee-pee, same thing for the poop. All the dogs I have had never did all that walking back and fourth. It's a real pain in the butt when he's on the leash and does that. And he's not sniffing at anything just walking back and fourth lol. Hair blower,when he sees that he is gone, he HATES the blower lol. Warm weather I don't use it, only in cooler weather.

| Huxley gets fixated on one part of a toy and just chews in that same spot until the piece is off, usually a limb of some sort.

| There's bells made specifically for this at most pet stores/supplier. It's a long rope/ribbon that hangs over the door or near it with a bell at the bottom end. The bell is rung everytime you take them to potty and you might say something like "let's go potty" or whatnot if you choose. After a bit you take their paws and have them ring the bell everytime (keep the bell to where they can get to it). Eventually one way or another they'll usually get that ringing the bell is potty time or they just want to go outside ^^;

| Teddy bites his tail and holds it. Because he won't let go, he ends up literally carrying his butt by his tail in his mouth...and walking this way across the floor.. My husband thinks this is hilarious ... Does this count?? |

| One of Dex's sweetest habits happens every morning. The routine is all of the animals get a morning 'treat' while the coffee's perking and I'm doing my getting ready for work routine. Dex gets a little cookie that he politely takes from me. The best part is, he WAITS until I have my coffee and am sitting down on the couch with it to watch the morning news, then he hops up beside me with his cookie and eats it while I have my coffee. It doesn't matter how long I take to settle down, he waits to eat that cookie with me. I just love this little guy |
