| What do you think We are thinking about switching from canine caviar to Fromm. Our little boy has so much tear stain, I am concern it may be from the food. Thanks.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It can't hurt to try...though I'd compare ingredient labels to make sure you're not just switching to another food that has the exact same ingreds. If it were me, I'd probably want to try a different protein and carb source, for starters. You could also try the Angel Eyes Natural (the one w/out the antibiotic) and see if that works. Some dogs are helped by drinking only bottled water. Did your have the staining prior to the Canine Caviar?

| We just got him 5 weeks ago. He has tear stains when we got him. We have no idea what he was eating before. Our girl Jasmin is eating canine caviar with cornucopia wet food. Jasmin had tear stains when we first got her too and clear up over the first year we had her. They are both drinking distilled water with a drop of apple cider vinegar. I talked with DH. He think we should keep ninja on current for the next couple of months and see if his tear stains will clear up.

| I would be hesitant to switch foods for a puppy because of tear stains. There can be many other causes of the stains. For instance, Max has some staining right now that started with a brief bout of allergies brought on by wet grass. I would first make sure the hair is staying out of the eyes. Then make sure you clean the area very well a couple times a day. Use a flea comb with tightly spaced teeth to separate the hair and get some of the nasty junk (yeast?) out. Wipe it with a wet cotton ball and then dry as much as possible with a dry cotton balls. Comb again. Once the hair is stained, it essentially needs to grow out to get rid of the stain. I like Happytails Eye Pads to help remove stains while the hair is growing out. Max and Teddy both suffered wet eyes off and on as pups. What really helped them was a course of antibiotics for an unrelated problems (unrelated to eyes).

| How old is your pup? When they're teething, they can get tear stains. When my guys were eating CC, they didn't have any tear stains. You can also try PURE baby water by Gerber.

| Ninja is 9 months. The vet said all his baby teeth are out. His face is always wet from his tearing. Jasmin does great on cc food with no tearing. Hopefully with time his tearing will lessen.
