| prepping for pick up question I realize dogs go through a period of shock after being removed from the dam, and litter mates. How long is normal for not eating and at what point should I be concerned? Is there something I could give to encourage eating? I have nutrical on hand.

| Every pup is different, when you get home sit on the floor (come down to their level) and put your pup down and let him/her just go about sniffing and checking things out, if your pup just sits and looks at you just give soothing cooing words of encouragement, let your pup acclimate in a quiet secure setting. As for something going wrong, you will know when it is a problem and ya know you may NOT have any problem!!!! Good Luck. Keep us posted.

| Yorkies are funny about food, especially kibble. They like it when you take a few out of their bowl and act interested like you might eat it. Try that. A canned option may peek his interest. The main thing is that pup is staying hydrated. If pup doesn't drink or pee you could try a little diluted low sodium chicken broth? Just don't let the baby get overtired, let him rest, have food and water available at all times. He should be interested in food by the day after he comes home, hopefully sooner. |

| One of the first things I did when I got Callie was sit on the floor with her for a few hours and she ate within an hour. If there not eating nutrical might stimulate there appetite but not sure. If they absolutely won't eat and you have softened the food by soaking it in water you could try some boiled chicken maybe.

| What worked for Lexi was putting the kibble directly on the floor. She wouldn't touch it in the bowl in the beginning, but on the floor she would eat it up. I would also sometimes give her a couple pieces out of my hand to get her interested in the food. Mixing the kibble with water could help too if having a hard time with the dry kibble. |

| With Millie, who would not eat anything I gave her for the first day or so, I ended up mixing a small amount of Nutrical with her food for 2-3 days until she got comfortable. I guess it made the kibble taste sweet. Let's face it. . .for those first days, we will do anything! Enjoy your baby!

| I had to play like I was "gonna get his dinner". He is a year old and I still play the game to get him to eat. Just make sure you keep an eye on him. Good luck and remember to "have fun"!
