| Is a Yorkie considered a woman's dog? I've recently been petsitting my friend's cousin's yorkie and ever since I've been very inclined to get one. I've had mostly German shepard dogs (all passed away) and am very tempted to get a Yorkie, but is a yorkie considered a woman's dog? Would a man (single, straight) look weird or feminine with a yorkie as a pet? Thanks for any input. I'm just curious of what you guys/gals think. |

| I don't think yorkies are just girl's dogs. I think a guy with a yorkie would be cute. I'm assuming you are single since otherwise you could always pawn it off as your wife's dog. There seem to be several guys who post on here who own yorkies. I know it wouldn't make me think a guy was weird or anything. Jaime |

| i don't think so. i think girls tend to dress them up more but not all girls dress their yorkies up. i guess it's easier for a girl to go by little pink outfits and bows my ex bf (who bought nala) comes and gets nala quite often when he is off he will keep her overnight. he says she is the first "little" dog that he has ever liked. |

| a guy with a yorkie is cute! no matter what the guy looks like... a yorkie will make us woman go all mushy okok serious...i think a man with a yorkie shows hes got a heart! and he doesnt need a big dog to boost hes ego.... so i would say, do urself a favour and get urself a furbaby if u have the time and patience

| Ask 'harbinger'...he's a guy!!!! Yes, I think guys tend to not be soooooo girlie with their yorkies. I also think it would be a stroke of genius for a guy to get a yorkie..if you are looking for a girlfriend.....yorkies are girl magnets!!!!! |

I have noticed that and I am single, hmmmm. That's a big plus, but the main reason I would like to get a yorkie is because of their personality. They are cute and adorable, very playful, likes the attention. | |

| Yes, ....as mentioned earlier, any guy who can have a small dog and be comfortable with it....not 'need' a big dog to enhance their image..... is something most girls would be attracted to....even if they did not realize they were attracted to it! Do a test.....borrow your friends yorkie and go to a park or out-side mall area.......or a dog park (if you have one nearby and feel comfortable some big dog won't EAT UP your friends dog).....or just on a leash down the sidewalk...... OR..... and outside cafe......!!!!! |

| Yep I'm a guy and I love my yorkie. I'm a beer drinking, sports watching, woman loving typical "guy". One piece of VERY important info is to follow... Chicks dig yorkies! For any guy that HAS to have a big dog to convey his masculanity I can only think of one thing.... What exactly are they trying to make up for size wise? Oh yeah I forgot to mention this because most people here know this. I have a very strict no cute bow (ok no bow period, cuet or not), frilly cloaths rule with my little girl! | My husband is in LOVE with our puppy! They cuddle on the couch every night. Sometimes, when I come home, he has taken her out! He calls a zillion times to check on her when he has to work late and everything! Honestly, I think a guy with a yorkie is perfectly fine! They really are great dogs!

| This thread is sooo funny!!! I, personally, think there is nothing more masculine than a man who isn't ashamed to cry at sad movies, helps around the house and loves a Yorkie!!!! I think Toto loves Patrick more than she does me!! He likes to make everyone think that I am the one who spoils her .... Patrick bought her seventh bed [LL Bean and we refer to it as her "Queen Bed"!] ... Patrick is the one who bought her third crate ... Patrick is the one who chooses 95% of her toys ... Patrick is the one who hired her "personal trainer" in Lake Charles ... Patrick is the one who wants to buy her the doggie treadmill!!!!! Meanie that I am ... I put my foot down!! I will walk that weight off her ... and who do you think used to sneak snacks to her?? Seriously, I have the most wonderful husband in the world and we share everything including the love and committment that we both have for Toto! So ... all you guys who are men enough to acknowledge love and devotion for a Yorkie ... rest assured ... it is indeed, masculine!!!

| bettyeanne, you are so funny. i enjoy all your posts. i wish i could meet a lot of you people that are on this forum. you just seem to have it all together and enjoy life to the fullest. as to men and yorkies......when i first read the question, i knew there would be a big response to that one. i have never ran across any one (man, woman or child) who hasn't made over my 2. my husband is one person i never would have thought would take a liking to any animal. he has never wanted a pet before. he loves these two as much as i do. he don't make over them like i do but then again he sneaks treats to them and can't seem to tell them no as often as i do. mans do? they sure are!
