Senior Yorkie Talker | is this yorkie baby mixed? I'm searching for a new pup to play with honey and I fell in love with this little girl. The breeders says she's aca registered and she's pure but I'm thinking I need a second opinion.

| Might be pure, but poorly bred.

| Yorkie? I agree with Breggy. As many say on YT, buy the breeder before the dog. If you are concerned about the pup's heritage I would research the breeder. I am sure others on here will be able to advise too . It is not just the purity of the breed that matters, but the breeders lines and health tests etc. Good luck with your search. :-) By the way did you mean AKC registered? | I think what the poster meant by poorly bred pertains to appearance. when you compare the features of the puppy in the pic to pictures of photos of yorkies say from show breeders who are breeding to try to achieve the perfect yorkie look you will see differences in appearances between your photo and theirs. If you have been looking for yorkies I assume you have done a lot of google searches on yorkie puppies and their appearances and that is why you are asking if the puppy is mixed. To me it's hard to tell but like the other poster I would have to agree that there is a good chance the pup is purebred, but when it comes to appearance has not been bred to traditional yorkie appearance standards.

| Pup I wonder if you could post a thread in the Yorkies wanted section and hopefully breeders in your area will be able to help? Magic genie has some pups in the breeder section. Last edited by dottiesyrky; 09-02-2014 at 08:27 AM. |

| I got my first yorkie about 25 years ago and I have to say so much has changed in that time period. To me every tom dick and harry can and do breed, the AKC no longer means that much and they care nothing about the breed standards. I have seen so many pure bred yorkies that look nothing like yorkies. It seems like more than half new yorkie owners are buying or putting deposits on puppies under 8 weeks old all the while imagining the are getting a perfect little yorkie specimen which would be about 5 lbs, with long silky hair, blond face and paws and upright ears. Only after 6 months or so do they realize they have bought a 12 lb dog with coarse hair, a sooty head and long snout. To me if appearance is important find a show type breeder and bite the bullet and pay their price and take home a dog that is over 12 weeks home that looks like a yorkie. Or do what I did buy a mix or adopt or rescue a yorkie or a mix.

| what I would do is search out the show breed clubs in 100 mile radius or so of where you live and attend a yorkie show or find out the names of those breeders and contact them to see if they have puppies or know of puppies.
