| A reputable breeder may have a tiny available but it's not something they try for. More work, more worry and not the best examples of the breed. Some are definitely very cute but spending the money to show them would be a waste since you can't use the tiny females for breeding. If you want a tiny one get on a waiting list with and excellent breeder and wait. (and wait and wait) You will have to prove you are worthy but it can happen. |

I never said smaller yorkies are more likely than larger yorkies to get sick. I said more smaller yorkies tend to come from bad breeders which is why we tend to hear about it more in smaller yorkies. I also believe a larger yorkie coming from a bad breeder is also more likely to have problems. When I was researching breeders in my area, I would say about 80-90% of them where selling "teacups". There are just so many of them out there, just statistically speaking you are going to see more of them with problems. But, this is all my opinion! I don't have any statistical research to back this up, just what I have personally seen.

| Like most of the majority is saying here, getting a quality puppy from a reputable breeder would be the best route, esp if you're wanting a smaller pup. Reputable breeders will not purposely breed for tinies, it will sometimes happen in a litter. Unethical breeders will use tiny females (3#'s & under) to get the tiniest puppies possible...to me, this is inhumane & animal cruelty.

| Depends what you would consider a study. I am going by facts and then by my own experience of being on this board.

Well according to the YTCA they are more at risk. Since they are responsible for maintaining the standard of this adorable breed I am going to take their word for it. http://www.theyorkshireterrierclubof...1335Teacup.pdf

Hydrocephalus in Toy Breed Puppies | VCA Animal Hospitals Are certain breeds more likely to develop hydrocephalus? Small, miniature, and toy breeds seem to be more affected. These breeds as well as brachycephalic dogs (those with shorter faces), include the Boston terrier, Chihuahua, English bulldog, Manchester terrier, Pekingese, toy French poodle, and Yorkshire terrier.
