| Two girls or a boy and a girl We're looking for a playmate for Lexi. Today I spoke with a former breeder who told me that I should NEVER put two females together. In her experience, females will kill other females in order to obtain the "alpha" position. I know a few families that have two females, from separate litters, at different ages and I've never heard of this. Should I be looking for a male dog?

| I know several people whom have two female and haven't heard of them having problems. But I have heard it before too. There are several breeders on here that could probably enlighten us.

| sexes Unspayed BITCHES can be terrible and fight...so can unneutered males. I have NEVER had a fight among spayed girls..a small bicker or a nose out of joint once in a while, but hardly a fight to the death as unspayed girls can do. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We have two females under the age of 6 months...they are from totally different litters and are almost 3 months apart in age...we have never had any problems with them...they play together and nip at each other but are not at all mean to each other...Magic is our oldest and is very prissy while Sailor is more of a "tomboy" and loves to play, so they are different but work well together....maybe we are not the ordinary but I just thought you should know about our situation!!

| years ago i had 2 little girls and they adored each other, must say there was quite a big age gap maybe that played part i dont know, only thing i had with them that i can recall is that they were jealous like kids would be for example, if the 1 was sitting on my right side, the other 1 would want to sit on that side and the other way around, i made sure they both had the same things and gave them at the same time, they were very different, the eldest hated any dirt on her and the youngest loved to look like a little piglet, but both were very special and both were loved equally.

| Tia and Sandy, so far, get along better than I had expected. They do "play" fight a lot (growling a little and chasing, but all with wagging tails, no bites). They are also VERY far apart in age as well. But so far, so good!

| Boy and Girl Hi! I have had Simon since he was a puppy and recently rescued Hallie, a 3 year old female who was abused and neglected. It was difficult at first but they are hilarious now. Hallie has absolutely become the Alpha (probably because she is older) but the boy-girl dynamic is very good. Simon is still a lot of puppy and Hallie is a lot calmer but they play and sleep together now. It was a great choice for me to get him a sister, even if it was by accident |
