| You aren't alone! Many of us here have pups with pancreatitis, my Uni included. Every dog is different, and their triggers are all different. I found Uni's trigger is lamb. I switched her to a different food with lamb and she got it. Her levels were pretty high (amalyze, sp?) and had bloody diarhea for almost two weeks. She was about 3 yrs old at the time and actually a bit underweight. This past Jan she got another bought of it, but not as bad, but I don't know what the trigger was. No lamb. Now I don't switch her food. She's on duck and doing well on it. I give some treats such as tomato, cucumber, lettuce ribs, fruit pieces, greek yogurt. Sometimes I will give her boiled chicken breast but I don't cook chicken often so don't have it in the house usually. Just be careful of any fatty and/or salty foods; steak, hamburger, bacon, sausage, hot dog, etc. Reread your post: you have to feed her dog food, even if she's picky. She needs to have a balanced diet, and only chicken won't cut it. Some do home cooked food, but must be discussed with a dog nutritionist first.

| my dog had pancreatitis at age 5. He got it again at age 10. He is now going to be 14 and he is on a very low fat diet for life. He eats home cooked food and occasionally eats dog food (Royal Canin gastrointestinal low fat kibble which is designed for pancreatitis. If you want recipes for home cooking, you can also do a consult with a vet nutritionist for a customized option or you can check out balance it and use one of their diets.
