| If his eyeshine from the camera flash is reddish/brownish, probably cottony. If green, should be silky.

| I believe it does work. It's what I used to determine my babies coats. Cuddles is a silky coat. Her eye shine is almost always green or blue. Cookie I think is in between. Her eye shine is sometimes yellow sometimes greenish. You never know, I guess it works on some more than others. :-)

| I had never heard about it before I joined YT but since then have found that the association of a dog's eye shine or eye glow on reflection to certain bright light is pretty commonly known in the Yorkie fancy and has been a true indicator of my own Yorkies' coat types when I look back on the old pictures. Look on Google and you will find a bit about it, too.

| He looks cottony to me. I also agree about the eye shine. Emma has the green tint during a camera flash and at just under 6 months of age she seems to have the beginnings of a silky coat.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Cotton coat for sure . . Not sure if this is a true fact but if you judge by the eye flash than my three are as the tail says. The two and if you include my Brandi who have a green shine are all silky coated. Ruby with red is a cotton coat.

| I believe there is a thread on here about if the eyeshine is a gold/yellow color then the coat will be a modified silk coat. Actually here's the thread below. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...oat-color.html

| I usually try to use a separate flash to bounce the light to avoid the eye shine. Katie was so happy to see her dad, and I didn't want to miss the shot, so I used my in camera flash. It's crazy how strong the green eye shine is. I can see the green eye shine in Katie when the room is dark, even without the flash. Katie has a very thick silk coat.

| I've never heard of this! I just took a picture of my Maggie and hers are yellow. Looking at an older pic, they were green. She is 7 months old and still has more of a wooly coat. |
