| Are pets allowed at dog shows? there's a dog show for the local kennel club where i am. i want to go check it out, but i also want to take bunjee with me. does anyone know if pets belonging to attendee/spectators are allowed at dog shows? or are only the show dogs and obedience trial participants allowed at dog shows are is everyone welcome? or does it depend on the show? i don't see any information on this on the show's website. TIA |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | dog shows I went Saturday to the dog show in Indio. There were many "spectators" with puppies/dogs in purses and strollers and on leash. I don't think you can take your non-competing dogs into the "prepping" area. My experience has been you can "get away with it" at the bigger shows as long as your dog is behaved and doesn't distract the hanndlers in the ring. There is a big show coming up in San Bernardino at the end of the month. |

| pets at shows Dog shows really only allow entered dogs on the premises. However, having said that people often do bring in their little breed pets. IF you do, keep them out of high profile tucked in your coat or one of those dog carrying bags, out of sight, out of harms way. You may be asked to leave but not usually if you aren't creating a problem for exhibitors. |

| Depends On The Show If it is an AKC show, they rule that only dogs entered in the dog show can come into the show area. Close to the rings. However with that said, it depends on how strictly the club that is giving the show adheres to the rules. Unless the people with the obvious unentered dog are posing a threat to others or their own dog, nothing is said. In other words, if the dog looks unkept and unhealthy, you will be asked to leave. Or in the instance of a tiny Yorkie, lets say you had your furbaby on a lead on the floor where one of the big dogs going by could grab him, you would be asked to leave. Some shows you will not even be allowed in the door with a dog unless you have an exhibitors pass. It just depends on the club giving the show.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I agree it depends on the show...we took the girls to a show down in Houston once and no one said anything, we asked the Club president before we took them and they said that was fine!! But we have asked at other shows and been told no, so you will just have to call or email someone from the show and ask them.

| shows And remember, a dog show is the best place for a pet to pick up a nasty illness. Don't let them walk on the floor or grassy areas. |
