YorkieTalk Newbie! | Puppy First Day Home Introducing 8 week old Mr.Yorkie or (Yorkie) for short. We got our male Yorkie from a vet who breeds yorkies. Yorkie had two other breeding mates before the vet said it was time for him to find a new home. He had a 3 hour car drive home where my wife kept him close by in a chest carrying bag. New adventure for him and he was just fine. First day and a half and no accidents in the house but I am taking him outside on the grass every 3 hours during the day. I also get up once in the middle of night to take him outside. He is already showing strong yorkie tendencies with his outside exploring. He found a lizard to chase already. Such a happy little guy outside! Our yard is fenced in puppy proofed since we have 2 other Maltese mixes. We also have our yard bird predator proof with lines strung on top of our fenced in area. Our Maltese dogs go in and out at will through the doggy dog during the day. Yorkie was curious with that doggy dog but it will be a while before I let Yorkie go outside by himself. Yorkie discovered our grave marker where our other Yorkie Rookie was buried. More than once our new Mr.Yorkie came by and I am not kidding stopped by for a close look at the grave site and seemed to bow in prayer. Rookie was a great dog so we had to get another yorkie. Our Maltese dogs are OK with Yorkie and the younger Maltese Happy allowed Mr. Yorkie to chase him. Little 3 pound Mr. Yorkie is bold already? Our challenge for the first day and a half was feeding Mr. Yorkie. Very finicky eater to the point that my wife e-mailed the vet breeder. She said to hand feed the little guy 4 times a day. He is doing great with his chew toys so far and avoiding the things he shouldn’t chew on. This morning he barked for the first time while in his crate. Funny thing is that there is a mirror behind his crate and he barked at his image wanting to play. He just had a good meal with hand feeding and is very energetic in between his naps. We took Mr. Yorkie to church this morning in area where they allow babies. He was a welcome addition but he was a little nervous for a little while. Right now the little guy is lying quietly by my side in my office. We have pictures of him and will post as soon as we select a good one. |

YT 500 Club Member | Welcome on your new addition. Maltese are such a good companion for a yorkie. They are mild tempered and allow yorkies to go Wilhelmina and crazy and still remains calm. I have a Maltese also. She lets my yorkie pull his ears and tail. They are so cute together. |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Maltese, Happy, is the more mellow of our Maltese dogs. When Yorkie starting getting a bit rough outside, Happy just ran inside through the doggy dog leaving Yorkie outside wondering how that door works. Won't be long before Mr. Yorkie just runs in and out as well. |
