Neutered at 4 months? Advice please! Yesterday, I took my 15 week old yorkie in for his 3rd shots. We plan to get him neutered when he is ready since we don't plan to breed him. He is starting to have a little too much fun with his stuffed bear...he is also jumping over the 3 foot baby gate we have up for him when we are at work during the day! The veterinarian said that getting him neutered now would probably be best since he is expressing dominant behavior. The veterinarian said he is ready to be neutered (he has matured at an early age!) so we are planning to get him neutered in a few weeks when he is 4 months old. Do you think this is too early to neuter a yorkie? Stomper (my yorkie) is already 6 pounds 6 ounces so he is a big boy. Any advice or suggestions?

Alot of male dogs get neutered at 4 months old, it's actually pretty common, the females are the one's that have to wait to get spayed until they are 6 months, im sure if your vet said it was ok, then it probably is. Cara

my vet said Mason will be ready at 6 months.....but I know that vets take into consideration both AGE and WEIGHT, so maybe he didn't think Mason would be ready until 6 months. You can always call other vets and get a second opinion.
