| Opinions Please I have been looking for the little girl of my dreams, In Missouri i couldn't find her so i widen my search from just Missouri to Missouri, Kansas Arkansas Illinois and Oklahoma. Well I found her she is everything i was looking, I love her color and she is a surty lil lady. But here is the situation.... This puppy has an underbite and two hernias that may need repaired when she is 6 months old. The under bite i can care less about i think it gives personality, but i am worried about the hernias. The pic is her.

| I, myself, would not buy a pup knowing they already had possible problems. I don't know what you are wanting to pay but I do some 2 AWESOME breeders here in No Texas. If you want to email me, I could give you the info. |

| pup She looks like a nice pet. Her ears will no doubt stay down, but if that does not concern you, she looks like a sweet baby girl Call your vet and tell them you are considering buying a pup with double hernais..she is old enough to spay NOW, remove puppy teeth and repair hernia's..as a rule it is quite simple when spaying..the hernia is gently pushed back into the body cavity and sewn closed.. Ask the vet how much extra the hernia repair will add to the bill and tell the breeder. The breeder in turn can reduce the the price by that amount. If the breeder says their vet will do it cheaper..then you can use the breeders vet..some breeders get discounts. Perhaps, the breeder should spay/repair now and let you take her in a week or so...if the breeder refuses to reduce the price.. I would look elsewhere, unless the puppy is already very cheaply prices. I would not pay anymore then $400/500 for a puppy with down ears, hernias and underbite. Best wishes |

| She was born Sept 3....i am calling a vet first thing in the am.....the ears are not a issue i am not looking for the "perfect yorkie" just a good girl to love. Her price has already been reduced to a reasonable amount condsidering her issues. I guess i will just have to think about her long and hard and see what the vet says. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I agree you should talk to a vet first and see if there would be future problems due to the hernias. If not and they can be repaired at a reasonable price then I would consider getting her!!!

| I wouldn't buy a puppy (that I haven't really fallen in love with yet) with problems. "Love at first sight" is always there with an adorable little Yorkie pup, but it's not the same as the love you develop after you have had them only a week or two. Surprises me that you are willing to do this --since you have widened your search to such a wide area. Seems like you are in too much of a hurry and are willing to accept less at least the healthy little dog you deserve. There are a lot of things that make a little Yorkie "less than perfect" that are not health issues. I agree an underbite may not be a problem. And, many other things can keep a little pup from being an ideal breeder or show dog, but, again - these are not health issues and never stop a pup from being a healthy, wonderful little pet. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you can afford to repair or have surgery for hernias ---you can afford to pay a little more for your pup in the first place. In fact, it will probably cost you a great deal more in the long run if you get this little guy that is a "good buy".......to say nothing of the sadness you'll experience taking care of a little pup with problems. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Good luck - with whatever you decide to do -- keep in touch! | Hernias.. The buyer should NOT be fixing the problem without a big discount...the pup should be discounted without hernias..she has an underbite in the photo. Hernia's are not a serious problem, compared to so many other things..they are completely fixable and happen sometimes..I have had a couple navel hernia's and had them fixed before selling the pup so I knew they got fixed. Truthfully, I would buy a pet with a hernia and not one with an underbite..hernia's are fixable and gone, underbites are there forever. |

| I would get her if she was at a real reduced price. I am sure her spaying will cost more with the hernias. I would find out how much more. There are alot of puppies out there.

| overbite You say you are not worried about the underbite or was it overbite but you should be. This can affect their eating. Our neighbor had a puppy that was not gaining and growing like it should be and like it's littermates. he watched and noticed it was having trouble eating. It had a terrible overbite and could not eat. The vet recommended putting it to sleep it was so bad and wasting away. They tried to hand feed it soft foods but it did eventually die from malnutrition I guess. I really don't know but I know they did everything to try to keep it alive. As far as the hernia, if a pet is all you want that shouldn't be a problem once repaired. |
