| Negative posts only please I would like to read all the negative experiences of going from one Yorkie to two. I have already read a lot of positive postings but I can't find a thread about negative experiences. If you have two girls that fight? A second came in and ruined your life with your first one? Anything else that has been negative. Anyone get a second and have regrets? Thank you |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | We had Wylie first, and then got our Marcel about 2 years later. The only negative was that when we first got Marcel home, Wylie became very needy / clingy for a while and so we just made sure he got the attention he needed to feel okay. He sort of had the attitude of "what is this hamster type thing you brought home to me?" - lol - and he didn't want much to do w/ him at first. But after a short while, they started to play etcetera. Now, they're brothers...they have occasional normal dog dust-ups but nothing major.

| Traveling with two is more difficult. When I had just Couver, it was easy to toss him in his bag and off we went. With two, it is a little more of an ordeal to pack them up and go. With two, the vet bills are doubled. We have been lucky and haven't had any huge health issues or catastrophes happen, but with two dogs, vetting is more expensive. The same is true for grooming, bathing, food etc. No regrets here though! I love having two I know 3 would be too many because I have fostered and watched my mom's yorkie. I only have two hands, so three is one too many!

| Negative (even though I'd do it again, mostly it's worked out) a lot of extra work. Caleb does get jealous, he sulks, when she gets attention...ie she's in season, and needs extra attention, he's finding that hard. Even though he's a gentleman, and adores her and isn't a fighter. He goes off, stares at me from a distance, and sighs. Won't come when called. I have to get up and get him, which he LOVES and acts so relieved, as if he's testing to see if I still love him. It's happening less, but still happens. Also he's bonded with me, and wants more of me, she pushes into everything we do and everything he does. She's wonderful but bolshy. He spends a lot of time in the position below (he's the one upside down). He starts the play with her, he adores her and teases her to get her going. Our quiet time in the morning, which we both enjoyed, cuddling, belly scratching etc... , is now competed for...and can get rowdy. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=133904

| I don't personally have a second one but when my mom got a rescue yorkie even though she lives 15 minutes away it sorta became like our second yorkie. They got so used to going to every thing together one can not go to get groomed with out the other or they have some anxiety and issues which normally is not an issue except Callie has surgery and is on crate rest for 8 weeks so she can't get groomed for awhile and he is starting to look like a mess. Then there is double the bills for everything vet, grooming, clothing, toys, food, treats and so on. Double everything including poo! There is also some jealousy they don't fight they just push each other out of the way. Don't get me wrong though I would never trade it for anything. The one thing that honestly doesn't bother me is bathing two because Sammy has such thin hair it only takes a few minutes but I imagine if his hair was as thick as Callie's is might be more of an issue. Oh and they teach each other there habits some bad some good.

| The only regret I have is that I used to take Rosie more places with me. With two, it was much harder. But I loved having two so much I just got my third one! When I first brought Mikki home (she was 1 year) Rosie and her did fight like crazy. But now we play and even lay by each other. When I brought Lily home, they act like they have been best friends forever. Lily's transition was so much easier.

| I don't have two now but when I did the only negative was double the vet bills - seemed like one of them always needed something from the vet. So be prepared for that. Sometimes one is healthier than the other.

| I believe Max would have been a perfectly behaved dog if we had not added Teddy. Perfect! They are both really good as a whole, but they egg each on with barking at the door and in the car. Both very strong males and competitive. Other negatives: same as CouversMom wrote. Harder to travel. Double the vet bills, double the work. But, I adore Teddy and he is well worth all of the 'trouble.'

| Love them 25 hrs a day but it is more work and double everything. Crumbs, messy scatter rugs, gooey toys and slobbered balls, leaves and sticks tracked in from the garden and ground into the rugs, messy bottoms and being all out of dog food so quickly, two of them pushing to sit on my lap where only one can be comfortable. Despite all of this life wouldn't be the same without them. Really, come to think of it there isn't anything negative in having two or more. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | there have been posts on here about fighting between two females, or two males, unfortunately my search parameters are not bringing them up. It can happen. But definitely barking if one starts off the other chimes in! Vet bills and heartworm meds double the cost. Boarding and dog walking is going to go up as well Grooming unless you groom yourself. Peepads of course, either you are going to be buying more, or washing more often. Travelling is a bit more effortfull - 2 dogs to walk, secure in crates then secure in the car. Two dogs to worry about leaving alone in the motel room when you dash out for a quick errand. With Yorkies of course it is easy to walk two at a time. And as someone said they do learn from their packmate - the Good stuff and the Bad stuff.

| Thank you for the responses, very helpful. We are retired and usually plan everything around our pup so one is definitely an advantage. I just feel so darn guilty when we have to leave her at home. |

I videotaped my boys the few times they had to be home without a human and all they did was sleep and watch the door. They enjoy the doggy companionship, but they are not self-entertainers. Yorkies love company, but they can do very well on their own. I'm confident Max would be fine on his own. Teddy needs his doggy brother in addition to his humans.

| At one time I had 3 females, after having 2 getting them and their things ready for traveling a 3rd was not a prob. The only negative thing I can say was is the vet and groomer. I don't even want to say negative, it was never a burden, I loved my girls even when I leashed walked all 3 and they would argue over who was gonna be the first to reach the nx driveway gate to say hello to their waiting doggie friends. I never had regrets, and they came all over with me, no, never shopping, visiting and vacations. Guess I'm no help to you lol.

| The jealousy was the biggest issue here, it took a long time for my baby boy only child to accept he had a sister. Also my second is much more of a trouble maker. If you have one good one chances are the second one will be a stinker Also harder to find dog sitter for both. They do keep each other company though.
