| Gina just wants to see what is making the noise with both fireworks and thunder, we got really lucky this time around, all my other dogs in the past have been either indifferent or scared of the noise, Gina just challenges them. Cheers Quad & Gina

| Turn on the air conditioner, turn up the TV and I'll be putting thunder shirts on Bogey and Pebbles with an added dose of Benadryl. Poor babies

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Well first of all with young dogs don't bring them to fireworks We will have the TV on, and all our pack will gather together in our den. I have some special treats, and older dogs too who are in-different to the noises. When they go off a lot, I do some obedience work, and tricks, and of course rewards too. My puppy is too young right now, to go observe the fireworks (from a safe distant distant locale), but in Sept she will be out with me on fireworks night. We shall climb our local hillock and watch them from up on top. BTW an area she knows well. WE will have lots of treats and toys to enjoy the show. I also use sizzlers in the backyard - at least they throw out some wacky light. I agree not to pick them up or coddle them, but to be there and very present for them. If they want to jump on your lap so be it, just treat that like any other time they want to be up on your lap. And most of all just be relaxed in your own being, you don't need to add your tenseness or nervousness to what-ever your dog might be feeling. I hope you have a stress free July 4th

| Hmmmm I wondered about those thunder shirts..... Another round of fireworks and she comes scurrying to momma to hold just a shakin......she can't get close enough...... I just sprayed her fleece blanket with the adaptil I had left when we brought her home , put it in her small little solid take along crate and ...oh my goodness as many times as I have tried to get her to go backin it.....presto , she crawled in , peeked out to make sure I was still there and snuggled in....she has slept for almost an hour! Isn't that funny?! |

| Nothing. Our dogs don't care. They bark at the first couple then chill out. If it was a major problem I would use Ace. Ellie and I are at a friend's house pupsitting this week. The Pit barks and then sleeps. The Yorkie and Morkie bark and snuggle/shake. I just let them lay by me.

| I was able to start training Gracie with thunderstorms. When we would have a storm I would just make sure everyone knew not to react in anyway to thunder no matter how loud it was. She would look at our faces when she would hear loud thunder and we would just continue with whatever we were doing. Doing this assures the pup that this noise is no different than any other noise they hear. If they see nervous actions or reactions by their people then it is going to set them up to become nervous and fearful. Now, I don't take her to fireworks but people around us do like to put on their own little "shows." We did the same thing with fire crackers and fireworks. Just act like normal. No sounds or reactions to the noise that would cause any fear or nervousness. She used to look at us to see if we were going to react but now that she is 4 years old she doesn't even blink when she hears the stuff. My kids learned not to fear storms with the same method. They react to our reactions. |

| Stay home and watch the pups go crazy. There will be a lot of barking going on. Rosie nor Mikki get scared. This will be Lilys first 4th so we shall see.

| If Bentley hears firecrackers popping or fireworks going off in the distance he starts barking as if to warn us. My Boxer, Baxter it doesn't phase him in the least.

Not this year.....I have something more important to do. I did the same thing with thunderstorms too . I like them....as long as their not violent.....will go out under porch and sit and watch them roll thru..... There went one rattled the walls! She was on my lap and jerked startled but didn't react.....we have been outside most of day walking and playing frisbee. So funny ...she'd be at other end of yard fetching and BOOM! She'd come tearing back with no frisbee and end up between my feet....poor baby...but we continued on.....it always nice to get them used to their comfort words at a young age too ...it helps when they need it.... | |

| Between the severe thunder storm we had yesterday and tonight's neighbors with their fire crackers, I have now discovered my adopted Cody doesn't shake, rattle & roll like my past girls did. He barked a few times, I ignored him, just kept doing what I was, he was fine. I have been waiting for a good thunder storm to see what his reaction would be, now I found out, he can deal with it.
