| Ears won't stand up? Hi, I am new to board; as well as Yorkie Mommie. Emma is 6 mos old and ears won't stand up. Is this a problem that I can correct if so what do I do? My husband likes perky ears. Help!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You can tape the ears - but I can't recall how . Hopefully a breeder will come along and inform us. Welcome to YT !

| The calcium is probably going to the their teeth which might be why her ears are still floppy. But then, some stay floppy... As Wylie's mom suggested, you can tape the ears and/or shave the hair behind the ears to help lift the "weight". I think those two are the most common suggestions I've seen. Personally, I think floppy ears are just as adorable and have their own charm. My teapot has half floppy ears and my runt has perky ears. Love both their looks! |

| Sometimes shaving the top 3rd of the ear will help them stand as it takes the weight off. I on my sister in laws pup used poster board and cut small pieces the size of her ears and taped them with medical tape. The paper kind that doesn't pull. Hers took about 2 weeks off and on but finally came up and stayed up.

YT 500 Club Member | I had the same problem. I tried tapping several times but it didn't work . They would stand for one day and go back down. I took her to the groomers and had them trimmed andin three days they were up and been up ever since. I read that after six months their ears are set and most likely want stand at all. |

| Ears won't stand up Thank yal so much for the info, she's cute as can be even though they don't stand up. I don't want to have them trimmed, ouch, and the tapping some say doesn't work; so my Emma won't have perky ears, that's settled. Love the board, wiki enjoy getting to know yal. |

| Ears won't stand up my bad, I didn't understand, so shaving the ears will make them stand up? I checked with the breeder on this dog, and she said her Moms ears didn't stand up, and since she was 6 months old taping them wouldn't help. So....... |
