| I'm afraid I lost my puppy's trust His name is Maui. He's 13 weeks old. I love him. Today we were playing with a rope toy. I was dragging it along the floor while he was chasing it, sometimes letting him catch it. I was sitting on a pillow and when he caught the rope he must've bit the pillow too because I pulled the rope and he screamed really loud. Right after it happened he let go, walked around really fast and wagged his tail. I cradled him a little bit then he jumped off my lap, I tried to play with him again but he just went into his kennel. :-( would this make him lose his trust in me? Am I overacting? He's my first dog, all mine, I don't want to ruin this. |

| Don't worry about losing his trust. I have had accidents playing with my pups. They always come around. I would check Maui over closely to make sure he wasn't injured. He is adorable.

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk!!! I know you feel badly now, but he'll come around! Get his mind on something else. I would give him a little tiny bit of peanut butter on my finger and just keep petting and talking to him. I would leave the rope toy for another day. Even then, I would be very careful. He's a baby and needs to be played with super gentle.

| Hi welcome to YT, Maui is a beautiful lil baby, pups forgive, they don't hold grudges, he probably just got a little scared when you pulled the rope and it tugged on his jaw. He's just a lil baby everything is new to him, as the other member suggested offer him peanut butter off your finger, or give him his favorite treat. He will never loose trust in you.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | This happened to me the day after Crystal joined my wife and I, as a 20 week re-homer. Same symptoms went to her little basket and stayed there. We left her to sleep, the next day she was fine. I think when they're new to a home, away from their mom's and siblings their naturally apprehensive. Give her lots of gentle love and a few chicken strips, she'll soon forget her little scare. These are bright, happy little creatures who adore human company. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT! Maui is just adorable. Try not to worry too much, he will snap back and won't remember the ouch. He may be teething so perhaps the rope just caught a sore tooth or something.
