| New to site and Yorkies....help? Fairytale Yorkie? Hey everyone! Ok so Valentines Day 2013 my now hubby bought me a sweet little baby yorkie. It was a complete surprise but he knew I'd mentioned wanting one. Just so happens his cousin/cousins wife breed Yorkies and German Shepherds. He had gotten one of the shepherd pups a couple years ago and she's an awesome dog! So we took baby Loussi home (combined both our names loumissi and sounds like Lucy). For the first 2 weeks everything was incredible and she stole our hearts. The cousins wife told me she didn't breed Loussi but had traded her with another lady. She said she was so small that she wouldn't be able to breed her so she sold her to us for $500. 2 weeks later she began vomiting and had diarrhea. Three emergency vet visits later she passed away. The vet c I uldn't explain why other than perhaps she had a congenital liver disease at birth that reared it's head at 8 weeks. I was devastated. She offered to reimburse me or give me another pup from a future litter. Later I found put that Loussis brother and only other pup from that litter had also died. Now she is saying she has a litter of "fairy tale" yorkies and that I'm welcome to come choose mine. I'm still scared of having another tragedy but I'm ready to try again. However, I've been researching and can't really find out about a Fairytale dog other than it means they're small like teacup size. Any advice is welcomed. Also, I should add she has probably 12-15 yorkies of her own at any given time and she's selling the females from this litter for $1000 & males for $650. |

| an excellent breeder will keep the pups until at least 12 weeks. I have never heard of fairy tale yorkies so I guess hopefully other will chime in it is exists. I would be leary of bringing another baby home as imo I would find another breeder who keeps the babies until 12 weeks. I wish you much luck with your decision.

| No website.....just on Facebook. Like I said though....they're family so I don't want to put anyone on the spot. Just trying to learn what I can before deciding to take another stab at it. |

| I would not get one from her. It sounds like she is not a reputable breeder and you will be setting yourself up for more heartbreak. Reputable breeders do not let pups leave there mom until 12 weeks, they get genetic testing done that can not be done by a regular vet and they don't use words like teacup and such.

| Actually if the baby got sick at eight weeks and the lil yorkie gal was greT for the first two weeks it sounds like op was given yorkie baby at six weeks I am so sad for the heartbreak that must have been for you and what a sad loss of life for the baby. Yorkie's are wonderful amazing companions and don't have to be a set up for heartbreak- do some reading and research about weaning and hypoglycemia and liver shunts and guidelines that identify a reputable breeder and then if having a yorkie is for you you will have all the information you need to make an informed decision on choosing one there I a lot of information on this website to help you learn about all these things- good luck!

| Thank you so much .....I'm going to do just that. I'm not sure about the weeks but I do think she was either 6 or 8 weeks when I got her. |

| I would not get another pup from her. I decided to get a puppy a few months ago. A reputable breeder here on YT gave me advice on finding a good breeder in my area. One of the biggest things was keeping the pup until they are 12 weeks old so they can learn from their mother. Other things included a health guarantee, being allowed to see mom and dad as well as the kennel, micro chip, etc. When I started looking, I would google the breeder name. Wow the web tells you a lot! The breeder I picked had no negative reviews. Yes I paid more for my pup than I could have got one for; however, the cheaper priced ones had breeders with bad reputations. I have never heard of fairy tale pups either. But it sounds like she is trying to make "tiny" yorkies. Family or not, I think I would pass and find a good breeder. If not, you may be setting yourself up for heartache. .
